Hello Friend,

My tooth hurts and I am cranky..

No real need to belabor the point.

Broken tooth with old filling.

The dentist applies many needles, removes old filling, replaces with amalgam and temporary crown.

But tooth continues to throb, waking me up at night.

Unhappy, cranky, Dr Andrew J :-(

Chronic Untreated Pain in Pets
-----------------------------------

Which got me thinking about chronic pain in our pets, and how it affects them, but we are so poor at recognizing it.

Imagine your dog have an ongoing back or knee issue; it hurts when they jump, throbs at night.

Or your older cat with recurring bladder inflammation- this dull throb in their lower abdomen.

Not only is there the obvious pain, there is the change in HOW you feel, a change in behavior.

It might make you become more withdrawn.

Or less tolerant of the children about to pet you.

Perhaps more likely to bite the neighboring cat or dog..

As a veterinarian, I did a poor job of recognizing 'chronic' pain- and I was never taught to imagine how this could affect behavior.

Clearly it does, and IF you have a middle aged to older pet, or one with previously diagnosed arthritis or bladder inflammation, then your pet may very well have some chronic pain.

IF so, do something about it.

See your veterinarian, and consider ALL of your options.

Glucosamine, Chondroitin and MSM all seem to help for inflammation and pain.

My supplement contains all 3 ingredients, in levels needed to help.

P.S. I visited my friendly dentist who is hoping that the tooth in question is sore because the temporary crown is too high. The other option is a tooth root abscess.

Which means more needles, drilling and the like.

It seems slightly better this morning- but everything feels better after my first morning coffee..

P.P.S. My dog and cat supplement are helping my own pets deal with their ongoing chronic pain. Jessie has back arthritis, and he is FAR more active, and interactive, when I regularly supplement him.

My older cat Cleo has early kidney failure, along with repeated bladder inflammation- the Glucosamine/Chondroitin have since completely stopped the bladder issue, and he seems to be a happier cat.
