Hi Friend,
Good morning and welcome to Thursday.
Senior Moments
My older dog Jessie fell down the stairs yesterday- fortunately he is OK
He is 15 years old, and now showing common signs of an aging dog
Our pets tend to lose muscle and balance with age.
Jessie has muscle loss, and propioceptive deficits. This means the impulses that should be sent from his brain to tell him where to say place his foot, aren't happening as quickly.
He trips, and falls more often- this is common.
This was a good wake up call for me, so I will now be doing a few different things on a more regular basis.
I recently finished an Inner Circle Video called Rehabilitation Therapy in Dogs and Cats, and in it I covered some very specific exercises that you can do for your older pet, and that I will be doing with Jessie.
You can see the video here:

Here is some of what I will be doing, and what is in the video
1. Massage to relieve aches
2. Shorter and more frequent walks for cardiovascular health
3. Strengthening, stretching, and balance/proprioception exercises to encourage strength and stability.
Three types of exercises may benefit older pets: •Passive range-of-motion (PROM) exercises •General exercises for maintaining balance and proprioception •Targeted exercises aimed at strengthening gluteal and hamstring muscles (the muscles needed to maintain standing)
4. Specific Acupressure points for spinal health ( GV4, GV20, BL60 KI3)
5. Regular use of my supplement, which I have been negligent lately as I ran out..
The supplement has specific ingredients that can help maintain muscle mass, and increase mobility. Colostrum for instance is being used by high level athletes for this purpose..And it's in my supplement.

P.S. You can be passive and just chalk the changes in your pet up to 'aging' or you can be active and improve the quality of your pet's life.
These are easy things to do, and if they improve the quality of our pet's lives, why wouldn't we do them?
