The most prescribed class of veterinary drug
-------------------------------------------------
NSAIDS ( Non Steroidal Anti-inflammatory Drugs), are becoming the most prescribed class of veterinary drugs.
They are pain relievers, they decrease inflammation, and can bring down a fever.
In dogs and cats they are most commonly prescribed for arthritis pain, but any type of inflammation ( ie to help after surgery) may trigger your veterinarian to prescribe them.
But...
They can have very serious side effects, which you really need to be aware of.
------------------------------------
Here is what the FDA has said:
------------------------------------
When administering an NSAID, you should watch for these side effects:
Decrease or increase in appetite
Vomiting
Change in bowel movements (such as diarrhea, or black, tarry, or bloody stools)
Change in behavior (such as decreased or increased activity level, incoordination, seizure or aggression)
Yellowing of gums, skin, or whites of the eyes (jaundice)
Change in drinking habits (frequency, amount consumed)
Change in urination habits (frequency, color, or smell)
Change in skin (redness, scabs, or scratching)
If you notice any of these possible side effects, stop the medication and contact your veterinarian.
The primary effects are on the intestinal tract and the kidneys.

Alternate Options
---------------------------------
Are there holistic remedies....
Yes.
A variety of ones, which typically won't near as fast as these drugs, BUT they come without most of the above side effects.
At the very least, use some of the holistic options to decrease the dose of the NSAIDS.
My NEW Course is the place to start with using these natural remedies: it's Complete, Step by Step, and is priced incredibly LOW.
