Nicole
Toomey Davis here! Are you like I was when I was a brand-new
entrepreneur? I could see the vision of our company. I could feel
the pain and the need of our customers. We had a plan for a new
product that could make all the difference.
But….we needed cash, to get it all off the ground. And not a few
hundred buck either. We needed investors.
If
you’re like I was, if you have a plan for something BIG, something
that can change your part of the world and make a difference in the
lives of your customers, BUT you need cash, then keep reading.
I
want to help you learn what you need to know to raise money for your
startup.
As
CEO of my first startup, I raised millions of dollars from angel and
VC investors, and then sold that business to a public company. Only
about 3% of all entrepreneurs ever get capital from VC firms, and of
those, fewer than half are able to sell their company to a public
company for a successful exit.
But
I did it, and you can do it too, IF you know how the startup capital
industry works and IF you know the insider tricks! I want to help by
sharing with you what I learned and the process for successful
fundraising that came from what I learned. As a starter, that’s
why I created our unique VentureWrench Guide to Investor Capital to
include insider insights about angel investors, venture capital
investors, equity crowdfunding, best ways to structure your deal and
much more! But there’s a lot more insider information you need to
know in order to raise money successfully.
It’s
easy for an entrepreneur to make mistakes that can kill your chance
of raising startup money from investors, perhaps killing your
startup! Angel investors and VCs who provide startup funding think,
and act, differently than the rest of us!
I
can't tell you how many mistakes I made when I raised millions for my
first startup before we sold it to a public company (and I don't want
you to make the same mistakes). Although I had a lot of advantages,
such as a successful career in tech and an MBA from Stanford, just
like every first time entrepreneur, I didn’t know how investors
really worked.
I
did learn a ton while raising money and then selling that first
startup, DoBox. But…..it wasn't until we sold DoBox to a public
company, and then I went to work for our state government, that I
really learned how investors work.
You
see, I was recruited to run a grant funding and mentoring program for
high tech startups in Utah and therefore, I became part of the
funding pipeline. All of a sudden, I was a funding INSIDER, and so I
got to really see the inside of the VC industry. I learned insider
information that VC's and angel investors (and their friends) really
don't want you to know.
I’ll
tell you more about what I learned, and how the fundraising process
that I learned can help you, in my next email!
