As you may have heard, there has been concern about sickness and water safety in Sayulita. Due to tourism and population growth, the town's wastewater treatment plant could not always keep up with the demand.
We are so happy to report that the project to upgrade Sayulita's wastewater treatment plant was completed in April 2019. Thanks to Grupo Pro Sayulita and the Mexican government, a massive infrastructure upgrade was completed and Sayulita is now the only beach town in the area that does not dump grey water directly onto the beach. The newly upgraded plant will serve Sayulita for years to come and the government is now overseeing the management of the plant so there is regular inspections and upkeep.
Grupo Pro Sayulita is a non-political, registered and federally-recognized Mexican non-profit association (A.C.), that was founded in 2005 by concerned local and foreign citizens committed to enriching the quality of life for ALL, in the beautiful seaside town of Sayulita, Mexico. The goal of Pro Sayulita is to recognize and preserve Sayulita’s unique cultural and ecological diversity, and the benefits they provide for all of Sayulita's residents and guests.
We have been members of Grupo Pro Sayulita since 2005 and encourage anyone who has enjoyed the magic of Sayulita to donate. It is organizations like these that take the initiative to bring about positive change for everyone.
