This Sunday @ UCC: Lesson Title: Your Miracle
|
|
From Peter Mayer’s song, “Holy Now” —
“I remember feeling sad that miracles don’t happen still. But now I can’t keep track . . . ‘cause everything’s a miracle….
See another new morning come and say it’s not a sacrament – I tell you that it can’t be done.
This morning, outside I stood and saw a little red-winged bird, shining like a burning bush, singing like a scripture verse. It made me want to bow my head.
I remember when church let out, how things have changed since then. Everything is holy now.
It used to be a world half-there, heaven’s second rate hand-me-down. But I walk it with a reverent air, ‘cause everything is holy now.” |
| | | Concert: Sloan Wainwright & Glen Roethel
|
| Fri, Apr 5 7:00 PM Peace Chapel
Sloan Wainwright
Defying standard categorization, singer/songwriter Sloan Wainwright, consistently demonstrates her easy command of a variety of American musical styles — pop, folk, jazz and blues — held together by the melodious tone of her rich contralto, with the end result being a unique and soulful hybrid.
|
| Glen Roethel
Somewhere
between Folk and Rock, classic and modern, pop and abstract there walks
a very fine award-winning singer-songwriter named Glen Roethel. His
powerful baritone-tenor voice recalls the more playful melodies of his
favorite, Cat Stevens. When he plays it can be hard to tell where his
arm ends and the guitar begins, so blink and you might miss something
good. But don’t worry, he knows why you are really there – to have a
great time.

| | | April Heart of the House - Mary Haviland
|
| In the 30 years since Mary Haviland first came to UCC, she has volunteered in the Café, at Express and Service Saturdays, benefited from the offerings of many classes and regularly attended the WINGS group and Wednesday evening Prayer and Meditation service. Now, she also serves as a new member of Unity’s Board of Directors.
Mary loves everything that Unity stands for and has derived immense satisfaction from participation in varied activities, not always for the book content, but also for the interaction with the Unity community and the many friendships formed. But, the gift that takes precedence as her most gratifying experience at UCC is having been able to see her children grow up in Unity. Both Brendan, 21, and Heather, 23, were very active in the youth ministry. Brendan, a junior at Stetson University, served as a Southeast Y.O.U. regional representative. A proud PIKE, he is a member of Pi Kappa Alpha, a fraternity dedicated to develop men of integrity, intellect and high moral character. Heather attends St. Petersburg College, where she interns in digital media and looks forward to a study abroad program in Japan. She is also lead cashier at Ulta Beauty.

| | | NEW THOUGHT FOR A NEW LIFE
“An accountant had had a difficult life. As he began to reverse his thinking and dwell upon present and future blessings, everything changed for the better. As he affirmed, ‘Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life,’ he received pay raises . . . . He was given a promotion and more responsibility in his job, and he made frequent trips for his company, both in and outside of the United States. As he continued to affirm, ‘Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life,’ he inherited a large sum of money, he and his [partner] built a beautiful new home, and a dream of many years came true: the way opened for them to adopt a child, though previously all channels had seemed closed to them. This man proved that regardless of past or even present failures and disappointments, great good can still come when one opens his [or her] mind to receive it. You can do so as you affirm often: “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.’
Begin now to affirm daily the prosperity decrees found in the 23d Psalm. As you do, you can gain freedom from debt, ill health, inharmony, or bondage of any kind. Ths inspiring psalm is filed with rich miracle prayers that can produce rich, miraculous results in your life.”
