This Sunday @ UCC: Palm Sunday - Why Go There? - Leddy Hammock
|
|
(Scripture references: Mt. 16:24; 21:1-10; Lk. 19:28-44; Jn. 11:5-43; 11:9-13;12:27).
The road is long to my “Jerusalem,” but I will make it; that’s who I am.
I am a spiritual being, going through a human experience. Show me the way. Steady on, I'll finish strong on this path.
Everything in the outer may change, but I’ll keep my peace. Show me the way. With every mile, I am reminded that God is my strength and I am not alone.
Thank You, God, for hearing me. Show me the way. Whether the crowds cheer or jeer, I am not moved, for I am in my right place.
Every breath in me proclaims, “Hallelujah today! Show me the way!” |
| | Bring your children to be part of the "Parade of the Palms" as they join us for the close of our worship service that morning.

| | | Fri, Apr 14 2:00 PM Peace CHAPEL
Chapel Open for Meditation Noon - 2:00 PM
Guided Meditation 2:00 - 3:00 PM
For more than three decades here, we have set aside a time of contemplation on Good Friday between noon and 3:00 PM - the hours when, according to the Gospels, Jesus spoke seven times from the cross in preparation for His great demonstration over death.
At 2:00 PM, seven votives shall have been lit, which will be extinguished, in turn, as we contemplate the profound spiritual meaning of each of the Master's seven last statements from the Cross.
Come, let us honor the Silence as we share in this powerful and transformative spiritual preparation for Easter. |
| | | Sun, Apr 16 9:30 & 11:00 AM Sanctuary
Our Music Ministry shares awesome music during both services in our Sanctuary!
On Easter Sunday, "Happy Hour" including Nursery care for infants and toddlers, crafts for elementary school aged children is held during the early service (9:30 - 10:30 am). Then, a Continental Breakfast is served on a love offering basis in our Café between 8:45 AM and 9:15 AM and between 10:30 and 11:00 AM.
During the second service a positive lesson time will be presented for children of all ages in our Youth Wing, starting with Assembly in the Peace Chapel, including a beautiful Easter Flower Service (especially memorable and much more meaningful and relevant to our Unity teachings than an "Easter Egg hunt"). School age children will join us in the Sanctuary at the close of our Worship Service.
We will close our Café early that day so our volunteers can celebrate with their families. Thanks to all our helpers! Happy Easter!

| | | | | April Hearts of the House - Mary & Richard Fisher
|
| Rich and Mary Fisher of Weimar, CA and Largo, FL, on average, spend about six months in each state. Of the couple’s six children, one son lives in Eugene, OR, a daughter and son-in-law live next door in Weimar, and the others are all in Florida. There are 12 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Rich’s family moved to Florida in 1954 and lived on Gulf to Bay, and Mary, who was born in Atlantic City, came here, where she met her future husband, in 1977. They were married at sunrise on Oct. 22, 1981 at Philippe Park in Safety Harbor. In 2006, they moved to Hawaii and lived on the Big Island, eight miles from an active volcano. Recalling their time there, Rich and Mary noted that seniors were viewed as a source of knowledge, guidance, and inspiration to the next generations. They cited the term Kupuna, widely understood to mean elder, grandparents or elderly persons and considered the embodiment of natural respect.

| | Jane Spicer - Happy 96th Birthday!
Sr. Minister, Leddy Hammock and Minister Emeritus, Gwen Cohenour, recently visited our longtime UCC member, Jane Spicer in near by Largo on Jane's 96th birthday! Jane and Gwen were active members of our Church even before Leddy came to us in 1981. Both Jane and Gwen volunteered faithfully here at Unity through the years. As trained library scientists, both they worked tirelessly together, organizing our lending library and also organizing an extensive theological library (Gwen served as Dean for several yeayrs) for the Unity Progressive Theological Seminary that thrived for over a decade. Both Jane and Gwen participated in the Unity-Progressive Council during its formative years and have bequeathed a legacy not only of treasured books, but also of a pervasive cheerful prayer consciousness that shines throughout this ministry. Thank you, Beloved Friends in Truth and Happy birthday, sweet Jane! |
| | | Our New Canopies Are on the Way!
|
| It's intriguing to realize that, by the guidelines of feng shui, our main building, viewed from Nursery Road, seems to have "hidden doors."
Hmm. Since your Board of Directors knows that we all want people to find us and feel welcome, they decided to go forward with the plan of adding a lovely royal blue awning to the East lobby entrance and a soothing sage green awning to the Bookstore entrance.
We give thanks in advance as funds manifest for this exciting new addition to our Church Home!

| | | | A HIGHER VIEW OF LIFE
“The word resurrect means ‘to bring to view again . . . to restore to live.’ The resurrection of Jesus Christ was for the purpose of bringing to view again the divine nature of all [hu]mankind . . . . The raising up of the Christ nature in the [person] of Jesus symbolizes the resurrection of the Christ nature in all [hu]mankind. Jesus described [the] divinity [of humankind] when He said, ‘The kingdom of God is in the midst of you.’ What theology calls a ‘lost soul’ is merely a soul that has lost sigh to fits divinity. When our divine nature is brought back into view, into use, it can lift us out of all kinds of limitation.
A statement I have used many times over the years, one that has helped lift me out of limitation, is this: ‘Christ in me now frees me from all limitation. I am the resurrection and the life.’”
(Catherine Ponder in The Prospering Power of Love [Unity School of Christianity, 1966]
Your Weekly Prosperity Affirmation: CHRIST IN ME NOW FREES ME FROM ALL LIMITATION. THE “I AM” WITHIN ME IS THE RESURRECTION AND THE LIFE. THANK YOU, GOD!
