This month's Heart of the House is a little different than usual. Leddy's dad, Unity minister Lowell Turner, was mentioned in the July/August edition of Unity Magazine. We thought you'd enjoy reading about the origin of the Peace Mural that's in our Peace Chapel in this adapted version of the article:
SWEET, PETITE PRAYER CHAPEL
Have you ever thought about prosperity in terms of peace? I seldom take the time to ponder the prosperous benefits my body receives whenever I enter into the Silence and become one with peace–unless, that is, I happen to find myself at the intersection of desperate and frazzled.
Luckily, Unity Village offers many places where taking a deep breath is encouraged. One such place I visited recently is the Peace Chapel, located just west of Fillmore Chapel on the north side of the Education Building. While many visitors to campus have no idea this tiny chapel exists, it’s open 24/7 for anyone who wants to spend a little time in quiet solitude. To get there, walk along the west side of the building (the side facing the tower). The chapel juts out of that side, its only entrance the exterior doors at the far end of the portico.

In latter part of the 1800s a remarkable confluence of people united to change the world of philosophy, art, science and religion. These people, Helena Blavatsky, Henry Olcott, and others gave to the world a timeless set of principles now called Theosophy or the Ageless Wisdom. They united the east and the west both in the printed word and geographically. Their words reverberate to us even today not only in books and articles, but by the changes that have come about in fields of philosophy art, science and religion.
Judith Snow, a long-time student of the Teachings, will introduce us to these people, expound on their teachings and present how their influence continuous to expand our universe even today.
Suggested Donation $5 to $10, Any and all Donations Accepted

[St. John – in the Book of Revelations – speaks of writing to the angels of seven “churches” (types of spiritual consciousness).]
“There are seven types of people you can reach by writing to their angels.
‘TO THE ANGEL OF THE CHURCH IN PHILADELPHIA WRITE...’”
“The word Philadelphia means ‘brotherly love, fraternal love, universal love.’ People of this type talk much about the brotherhood of man, but love to them means outer works alone, rather than an inner consciousness of love. These are the philanthropists of human existence. Community organizations, clubs, fraternal groups, civic groups, churches are all filled with people seeking brotherly love, universal love. They sometimes become frustrated through exhausting themselves in loving works.
If you find yourself in a group or organization where the loving works do not seem to be balanced by an inner consciousness of love, you can write to the angel of that organization, asking that divine love come alive in the thoughts as well as in the actions of the group. As you do, those people who are not in tune with divine love will fade harmoniously out of the group, and those who are lovingly in tune with is aims and purposes will appear. In this secret, quiet way, both inner and outer harmony can be established and maintained.
An executive found himself in the midst of organizational inharmony. He was not sure just who was responsible for the unrest and critical attitudes found in the group. He tried various methods for reestablishing harmony, but the group remained aloof, critical, inharmonious.
In desperation, he began writing daily to the angel of that organization, asking for help in reestablishing a consciousness of love. Then he wrote: ‘I cast this burden on the angel of divine love. The angel of love now comes alive in this situation and in all persons connected with this organization. The angel of divine love now reigns supreme.’
Soon several volunteer workers resigned their jobs, leaving the organization, and new workers appeared who were eager to contribute to the progress of the organization in a harmonious way. Peace and progress were established and maintained.”
