This Sunday @ UCC:
We Remember - Leddy Hammock
“We Remember Them” in “The Gates of Prayer” by Rabbis Sylvan Kamens and Jack Riemer

“At the rising of the sun and at its going down.... At the blowing of the wind and in the chill of winter.... At the opening of the buds and in the rebirth of spring, we remember them.”

“At the shining of the sun and in the warmth of summer.... At the rustling of the leaves and in the beauty of autumn, we remember them.”

“At the beginning of the year and at its end.... When we have decisions... to make, when we have achievements that are based on theirs .... when we fulfill their dreams, and our own, we remember them.”

“As long as we live, they too will live: For they are now a part of us, as we remember them.”
Are You a UCC Volunteer? Volunteered in the Past? Thought About Volunteering? Know Anyone Who Volunteers? Anywhere? ;-)
If you fit the description above (or not) stop by Peace Cottage between 9:00 AM and Noon this Sunday and enjoy a free chair massage.

Yep, FREE! Massage students from Lorraine's Academy are required to perform community service to graduate and we're fortunate enough to be the recipients of that.

The massages will be first come first serve and the length of the session will depend on how many people are in line.

ENJOY!

The Gulf Oil Spill & UCC
The Gulf Oil Spill happened in April of 2010.

Slightly more than a year after, we found it necessary, as did the UU Church across the street, to return to one Sunday service after having had two services each Sunday for more than 30 years.

A few years ago, our Board of Directors at that time advised that a claim regarding BP Oil be filed with an attorney.

We do not know if there will be any results of that claim or not. But at this time, we are asking that if anyone here has been a supporter of this ministry for more than five years, and feels that his/her attendance, contributions, were impacted because his or her own finances were impacted, directly or indirectly, by the Gulf Oil Spill, s/he should definitely share the personal account with me or Russ in person, on the phone, or by mail or email asap.

Any disease we might mention “has been described as an ‘anxiety disease.’ The emotional histories of a large percentage of those who have [been diagnosed with these kinds of diseases] show that in some period of their lives they felt anxious, insecure or unloved, and that they subconsciously retained that feeling, which had often turned to bitterness, a critical state of mind, and may have generated hostility and hate.

One authority has stated that sixty-two percent of his . . . patients told stories of loss, intense grief, depression, and despair that led up to their physical condition. As long ago as 1925, an analyst declared that after studying hundred of [these] patients, she found most of them had suffered some important emotional crisis prior to the development of the disease, and that they had been unable to find effective outlets for their deep feelings and emotions.
