This Sunday @ UCC: This Place - Leddy Hammock
|
|
I am not here by accident. I am here in this place by divine appointment.
Since God is everywhere equally present, whenever I turn my attention to the presence of the Good, I dwell in the House of the Lord.
Wherever I am–either alone or gathered with others in prayer– my heart is in a holy place.
In Genesis, we read that Jacob fell asleep, alone in the wilderness; when he awoke, he declared: “Surely the LORD is in this place and I knew it not” (Genesis 28:16, King James Version).
Wherever I am, wherever I journey, I can always pause and pray.
I feel instantly safe and divinely guided as I affirm: “Surely the presence of the Lord is in this place!” |

| Liz Dima
A Legal Research Assistant at Carlton Fields Law Firm, where she has worked for 28 years, Liz has two “amazingly beautiful and loving daughters, Nikki and Jodi” and two equally precious grandsons, Geoffery, 5, and Jaiden, 4, both a part of the Unity church family who are “ by far, the very light and loves of my entire life.”
A Light Bringer, Liz has attended almost every single class offered by the Minister’s team. Leddy’s class on Lessons in Truth “lit a flame,” and she feels blessed to have learned from other wonderful teachers and spiritual leaders like the retired Rev. Gwen Cohenour and the Reverends Judy Tafelski and Dieter Randolph, who, in addition to Leddy, taught her the most about Unity principles in the classes she took with them.
Liz is our February "Heart of the House."

| | JD Martin & Jan Garrett - Sermon in Song
|
| Sun, Feb 25 10:30 AM Sanctuary
Jan & JD (with special guest Marcy Baruch) finally return with their award winning songwriting, incomprable voices and heartfelt message!
Jan and JD are multi-award-winning singer songwriters who live and create their music in the mountains of Colorado near Aspen. Both are seasoned performers and creative guides who teach with a twinkle, and inspire by example. They call their 19-year partnership “The Heart of Harmony” not only because they are happily married (to each other) but because they get to write, record, sing, and play their music for appreciative audiences around the country, and beyond. Their music is rich and intelligent, a velvet-hammer wake-up call as satisfying to the soul as it is to the ear…songs to open the heart and refresh the spirit.

| | | | AFFIRMING AND EXPECTING THE VERY BEST OF EVERYTHING
Catherine Ponder had been affirming the best of everything, with great success, manifesting a beautiful home. She writes: “Several years later, when I married and came to the Southwest to live, again I began to use that statement: ‘I have a divine right to the best, and I now trust my divine rights to bring me out right in experiencing the best.’ This time my husband and I were looking for an apartment convenient to the University of Texas, where he taught. Since we had been traveling all summer and had arrived in town only a few days before school began, it seemed by human standards utterly impossible to find a suitable unfurnished apartment that would meet our needs, within walking distance of the university campus. Nevertheless, we decreed what we wanted, declaring in detail just the type of apartment desired.
Shortly an ad appeared in the paper. We investigated it, and it proved to be the answer to all our decrees for ‘the best.’ The apartment was spacious, had just been redecorated, and was within sight of the university! The colors in which it had been redecorated perfectly matched our furniture. Furthermore, the rental rice of this apartment, we discovered, was more reasonable than that of any others in the surrounding area. As we continued affirming our right to the best, a housekeeper appeared who had long worked in the building, and asked to work for us. Whenever people complain about ‘how hard it is to find good help,’ I think of how this affirmation for ‘the best’ brought me competent help when I needed it.”
