This Sunday @ UCC: Lesson Title: Quiet Season
|
|
Inspired by “A Quiet Christmas” by Michael Gott:
My heart longs for a quiet Christmas, far from the hurry and the noise, for peace on earth meets peace of mind.
I can slow my mind. Just breathe, don’t run away, just breathe, and leave the cares behind.
I know I don’t have to hide. I can find a quiet place inside.
My heart longs for a quiet Christmas, far from the hurry and the noise, where peace on earth meets peace of mind.
Suddenly, there’s the joy, there’s the peace. I am ready for a quiet Christmas. |
| | | The current year marks 77 years of Unity in Clearwater, 60 years of Unity Church of Clearwater (Unity-Clearwater, Inc.) -- without fundraising or pleading, without gimmicks or guilt or pressure of any kind, whether in times of "feast or famine." Several folks, however, have encouraged us to take this opportunity to say something in behalf of UCC about "Giving Tuesday," so, here goes:
Giving Tuesday is a global day dedicated to giving back.
Today -- Tuesday, November 27th, 2018 -- people around the world come together for one common purpose: to celebrate and encourage generosity by giving to missions that feed our world spiritually.
In some cases, individuals like to celebrate "Giving Tuesday" by offering to match funds donated by others, up to a certain amount, and thereby give a gift that "shines twice as bright." We haven't asked anyone to offer to match a gift given to Unity at this time, but that would be a very beautiful thing for someone to do!
Why is "Giving Tuesday" such a good idea? Well, because in the midst of so many activities and opportunities in our world, it can be easy to forget the organizations -- and the spiritual home -- that nourish is spiritually.
A little reminder is generally a good idea for two reasons: we all want the organizations that give us hope and inspire us with good ideas, to thrive -- both for ourselves and for others who will be blessed by this mission in days to come. Secondly, giving in LOVE blesses the giver immeasurably -- as Jesus taught, "a hundred, or sixty, or thirty-fold" or more! The Christ principle can be expressed like this: Giving in love increases the capacity of the giver to receive according to our active faith.
Since Unity Church of Clearwater began as a study group in downtown Clearwater in 1941, it has continued to rely on the Christ principles to continue its mission -- FOR 77 YEARS! Since beginning as a study group, then chartered as a Church in 1958, Unity of Clearwater has continued to minister as a not-for-profit organization, relying upon free-will love offerings from its members and friends, who believe in the mission of this ministry -- FOR SIXTY MORE YEARS!
Honestly, with all the changes we have faced together over this long span of time, steadfast faith of this congregation is an amazing, even "miraculous" demonstration of prosperity principles! Our Church regularly tithes 10% or more of all that is given to our Church, each and every month (no matter what) to organizations and individuals who feed our world spiritually, and we continue to look to God as our Source, in all things. Gifts that are given in love -- large or small -- are all BIG WITH BLESSINGS, and we want you to know that we are deeply grateful.
During this season of giving, as the year 2018 rounds out to close in a few weeks, we are asked to remind you that you are free to donate in person (we LOVE to see you!), online, and by automatic transfer to UCC, through the Church website.
In the spirit of Thanksgiving, we give rich thanks for the generosity of all those who have given in love to UCC throughout 2018. Please know that we see you blessed -- sixty times, seventy-seven times, and more! |

| | | BLESSING YOUR CREDITORS
Charles Fillmore wrote: “Bless your creditors with the thought of abundance as you begin to accumulate the wherewithal top ay off your obligations. Keep the faith they had in you by including them in your prayer for increase. Begin to free yourself at once by doing all that is possible with the means you have and as you proceed to this spirit the way will open for you to do more; for through the avenues of Spirit more means will come to you and every obligation will be met.”
