This Sunday @ UCC:
Lesson Title: One Power
Lyrics by Daniel Nahmod to "One Power" —

"There's one Power, invisible, and you see it everywhere and every day – one Power, indescribable – and you speak of it with every word you say; mysterious, until you know the Truth, as simple as the love inside of you.

Call it God, call it Spirit, call it Jesus, call it Lord,

Call it Buddha, Bahá’u’lláh, Angel's Wings or Heaven's Door –

But whatever name you give it, it’s all one Power, can’t you see?

It’s the power of the love in you and me."

Heart of the House - Russ Hammock
In the early 80s, Russ Hammock was actively involved in heavy metal bands, first as a drummer for BRAT, then Thunder. Born into a pioneer Pinellas County family, the first son of the late Leon Russell Hammock, Sr. and Roberta (Bobbie) Riddell Hammock was not attending or planning to attend any church. Enter an attractive, auburn-haired Unity minister, the Rev. Dr. Leddy Hammock, and the couple married on December 14, 1985. Five years later, on May 27, they welcomed a son, Levi Russell Lowell Hammock.

Today, Russ is Director of Operations at UCC, where he claims to do “nothing in front of a mic.” Yet, it is Russ, as lead audio engineer with the tech team who runs the sound that is integral to every Sunday morning service. He is also in charge of purchasing and maintenance and technical issues, audiovisual and computer related, at the church and at Peace Cottage, plus organizer of meetups, eNews and marketing, all contributing to longer hours at UCC than at home.

All this and the musical More: Right after graduating from Clearwater High School, Russ started forming bands. He had wanted to play drums since 4th grade, but lessons were delayed until he was 13. (The school band director decided he should play trumpet.) For 13 years, the bands were his life while working in the corner service station (where he met Leddy), plus the odd jobs that he and fellow band members were hired to do to earn funds for recording studio time.

CPR Classes
Our friend, retired fireman, Lt. Charles Barlet , offers CPR training for certification nearly every Saturday morning at the Peace Cottage between 10 am and noon.

Please write to him, C. Barlet, at cpr4everybody@aol.com to reserve your space.

UCC Church members get a special rate, so please let him know!
Lt. Barlet has offered to present a FREE general information (non-certifying) class on CPR on a Tuesday evening here at Church, on an evening in late July, in August, or in September.

If you are interested, please respond to:
info@unityofclearwater.org and let us know!

When we get at least ten folks ready to attend, we'll schedule the class here in the Café.

WATCH YOUR WORDS!

Charles Fillmore wrote:
“You should never condemn anything in your home. If you want new articles of furniture or new clothes to take the place of those you now have, do not talk about your present things as old or shabby. Watch your words. See yourself clothed as befits a child of the King and see your house furnished just as pleases your idea. Thus plant in the home atmosphere the seed of richness and abundance. It will all come to you. Use the patience, the wisdom, and the assiduity that the farmer employs in planting and cultivating, and your crop will be sure.”
