minister, Eric Butterworth (1916-2003), often referred to as a
"Twentieth Century Emerson," is considered a legend and spiritual icon
in the Unity Movement. A visionary and an innovator, he originated the
Spiritual Therapy Workshops.
The author of sixteen bestselling books on
metaphysical spirituality, including Life Is for Loving, Spiritual Economics, and You Make the Difference,
a gifted theologian, philosopher, and lecturer, Butterworth was a
highly respected New Thought pioneer and innovator whose life was

“John, in his revelation (in the Bible) speaks of writing to the angels of the seven churches. The word church symbolizes spiritual consciousness. The seven churches are symbolic of the seven types of people whom we can reach spiritually by writing to their angels, when we seem unable to reach them in other ways.
I have known a number of persons who have used this special method of love for reaching troublesome people and clearing up inharmony. A young doctor recently learned of this method For some months he had been out of harmony with another doctor and had used every means he knew to restore harmony, but the other physician had rebuffed his bids for reconciliation. The young doctor began writing [unsent letters] daily to the angel of the other man, asking that perfect understanding be reestablished between them. . Later the other doctor met him on the street, greeted him graciously, and invited him to lunch. .Now they are again good friends.”
