| | Sloan Wainwright & Special Guest Glen Roethel
|
| Mon, May 1 7:00 PM Peace CHAPEL
Defying standard categorization, singer/songwriter Sloan Wainwright, consistently demonstrates her easy command of a variety of American musical styles — pop, folk, jazz and blues — held together by the melodious tone of her rich contralto, with the end result being a unique and soulful hybrid.
Her family tree (brother and folk-music luminary Loudon Wainwright, nephew Rufus Wainwright, nieces Martha Wainwright and Lucy Wainwright Roche) reads like a who’s who of contemporary folk music. Sloan’s incredible gift is not only her unique songwriting ability but also her dramatically voiced rendition of original songs.
“She’s folk influenced, but the real star here is her voice. Warm and smoky and smooth, it makes her earthy, ominous lyrics seem all the more intense.”

| | | | April Hearts of the House - Mary & Richard Fisher
|
| Rich and Mary Fisher of Weimar, CA and Largo, FL, on average, spend about six months in each state. Of the couple’s six children, one son lives in Eugene, OR, a daughter and son-in-law live next door in Weimar, and the others are all in Florida. There are 12 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Rich’s family moved to Florida in 1954 and lived on Gulf to Bay, and Mary, who was born in Atlantic City, came here, where she met her future husband, in 1977. They were married at sunrise on Oct. 22, 1981 at Philippe Park in Safety Harbor. In 2006, they moved to Hawaii and lived on the Big Island, eight miles from an active volcano. Recalling their time there, Rich and Mary noted that seniors were viewed as a source of knowledge, guidance, and inspiration to the next generations. They cited the term Kupuna, widely understood to mean elder, grandparents or elderly persons and considered the embodiment of natural respect.

| | Our New Canopies Are Here!
|
| | It's intriguing to realize that, by the guidelines of feng shui, our main building, viewed from Nursery Road, seems to have "hidden doors."
Hmm.
Since your Board of Directors knows that we all want people to find us
and feel welcome, they decided to go forward with the plan of adding a
lovely royal blue awning to the East lobby entrance and a soothing sage
green awning to the Bookstore entrance.
We give thanks in advance as funds manifest for this exciting new addition to our Church Home!
|
| | New Welcome Counter Coming Soon
|
| Be on the lookout for our new welcome counter which will appear in the lobby soon. Once the counter is in place we'll be turning its former home into a beautiful new conference room.

| | | | A SEASON WHEN EVERYTHING WONDERFUL COMES TO LIFE “In this season, when you see beauty, life, pleasantness springing up all around, in the wonders of nature, use often the resurrecting power of love through praise. Express approval of others, appraise situations as good regardless of appearances, and glorify your own appearance and your world. As you do so, you will become apart of the resurrecting power of love that is mightily at work in every atom of the universe . . . . Beauty also has resurrecting power for health. . . . Another way to glorify your divinity and resurrect your good is through joy. Emma Curtis Hopkins has described the resurrecting power of joy. ‘Exaltation is a magnet for all good things of the universe to hasten to you. . . . . In order to work your best, metaphysically, you must be in an exalted state of mind . . . .”
If a person does not know of the resurrecting power of maintaining a joyous, pleasant frame of mind, someone near him can still help resurrect his good by maintaining a joyous attitude about his life and affairs . . . . “
(Catherine Ponder in The Prospering Power of Love [Unity School of Christianity, 1966]
Your Weekly Prosperity Affirmation: I AM A MAGNET FOR ALL GOOD AS I MAINTAIN AN EXALTED STATE OF MIND. THANK YOU, GOD!
