Right Here Right Now - LH, the New Year of Corona, 2021 |
|
The place that you knew has now been rearranged, and we’re not the same, either. Thank God, we have changed. The rooms may look smaller. New faces we’ll see. Some things will feel different to you and to me. We make peace with knowing we cannot go back and we sing with the psalm: “There is nothing I lack” for the Kingdom of God is at hand.
It’s really all right if it isn’t the same. The Truth is still true and we know it by name.
Although the fond memories we shared seem so nice, we cannot step into the same river twice. The essence of life is not “there and then,”
It’s the strength to surrender, the faith to begin, for the Kingdom of God is at hand.
Between the “no longer” and the “not yet,” there’s a moment of Light where we’re free to forget the former mistakes and the worn out regret, and
the fear of a future we haven’t seen yet. For, always, at hand,
there’s a space to allow the welcome of “here” and the wonder of “now,”
for the Kingdom of God is at hand. |

Leddy's Lesson this Sunday: - Love for All We're Worth
|
|
Inspired by lyrics from “Love for All We’re Worth” by Tom Kimmel and Sue Riley:
Just as we know the stars are still shining even when we cannot see them, we know that God finds us worthy and deserving of unconditional love and we can love others no matter how they seem. Love is the light that shines in our eyes as we behold the light in one another. This love is like fire in the winter cold that we treasure more than any gold. Divine love is love for all we’re worth. This love is ever-living and everlasting. “And when we learn to let it in, it's heaven here on earth, this love for all we’re worth. “It's everything, it's me and you. It drifts away and comes around to stay. Love for all we're worth and faith, the heart comes first. And when we learn to let it in, it's heaven here on earth, this love for all we’re worth.” |

Welcome, Our Two Candidates to the Board! |
|
|
I
retired 2 years ago from a long satisfying career as a Project
Manager/Facility Planner. Presently I am a dog walker. I just love my
clients. They are fun and keep me in motion! I have 2 dogs of my own
Millie and Hank. I enjoy being outdoors walking, hiking, biking and
swimming. I'm really glad that I have made so many friends. I enjoy each
and every one of them. Previously, I served one other full term and
fulfilled the last year of an additional term, and now am delighted to
be eligible to serve another term for my home Church! |
|
| Hello,
I’m honored and excited to join the Board for another term. Unity has
meant so much to my life and I look forward to joining the Board. I’m
retired from the City of Clearwater (32 years). After I retired from
the City, I worked at Morton Plant Hospital in the Volunteer Office for 2
years and at the Information Desk for 1 year. I continue to volunteer
for the hospital at an adult cancer survivor camp each year. I also
volunteer at Church in the media loft and the Church Office. Since we
can’t meet in person right now, I’m volunteering from home by promoting
our online services and other events on social media sites. I love doing
this and look forward to the day it’s safe to meet in person. |

Folks are still asking: "What's the best way to send an offering to the Church?"
We're checking mail every day, so checks sent through the mail are fine, as are checks sent from your bank's online bill pay.
If you feel led you might consider setting up an automatic recurring donation. This can be done through your bank's bill pay or on the Church's donation form.
We've also been asked about the processing fees the church has to pay when the online form is used. The fees are a small percentage (3&-4%) of the total donation, however there is an option to cover fees that you may select if you feel so inclined. Every little bit helps and we're grateful if you decide to turn that option on.

Celebrating Black History Month
|
|
This February, as the U.S. begins its month-long commemoration of the contributions and achievements of Black Americans throughout history, the University of Missouri–St. Louis (our Sr. Minister's alma mater) takes a moment to honor the accomplishments of UMSL students, alumni, staff and faculty. Those featured in two of these stories lead communities, improve the health and education of the St. Louis region, make the best of tough situations, work to improve the lives around them and so much more. |

Ammarra Berry looks to organizational leadership for career advancement Ammarra Berry started the organizational leadership program during the fall semester with an eye toward career advancement. The granddaughter of legendary rock ‘n’ roll pioneer Chuck Berry, she believes an UMSL degree will help her provide the same sort of opportunities she had growing up to her own daughter. The newly launched program is intended to provide individuals with associates degrees or previously earned college credits with a rapid pathway to a bachelor’s degree. |

| State Teacher of the Year Darrion Cockrell makes fitness fun for everyone The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education named Darrion Cockrell the 2021 Missouri Teacher of the Year. Cockrell, a physical education teacher at Crestwood Elementary School, has forged strong bonds with students, staff and parents while overhauling the school’s fitness program. Cockrell began teaching at Crestwood Elementary in 2015, implementing his “Crest-Fit” training program. He was inspired to rethink the school’s approach to fitness by former First Lady Michelle Obama and her initiatives to address childhood obesity. |

Jesus said, “Love your neighbor as yourself.” “Now, the key word in that statement is the little two letter word, “As.” As you love yourself, so you love others. You can only love others, to the degree that you love yourself. This is a fundamental statement of being, which shows us that our primary responsibility is learning to love ourselves. When this is done, then our attempts to love others will be natural ones, not forced attempts. As a matter of fact, once you have learned to love yourself, then you won’t even have to work at loving others. Your expression of love toward others will be a natural and spontaneous one, because you will simply be expressing what you truly are, a radiating center of love. And the love that emanates from you, will be done automatically and even effortlessly, according to the law of mind-action, which again, states that thoughts held in the mind, produce in the outer after their kind” (Frank Guidici, Unity teacher, in Loving Ourselves into Wholeness). |
|
OUR WEEKLY AFFIRMATION:
“I LOVE OTHERS AS I LOVE MYSELF, BEHOLDING THE GOD-SELF INDWELLING EACH AND ALL OF US AND LETTING THAT CHRISTLIKE LOVE UNFOLD AS WHOLENESS AND WORTHINESS IN MIND, BODY, AND RELATIONSHIPS.”
GROUNDHOG DAY BLESSING:
TODAY, I EMERGE FROM MY WINTER "HYBERNATION" IN PRAYER, UNDAUNTED BY ANY "SHADOW" OF OLD LIMITATIONS. "I SPRING FORTH WITH A MIGHTY FAITH TO DO THE THINGS THAT OUGHT TO BE DONE BY ME" -- CHARLES FILLMORE.
THANK YOU, GOD!
