The Journey - LH, the New Year of Corona, 2021 |
|
How we came to be where we are now, we could not say, Except that many lessons had to happen to us first. Bondage or liberty? Plague upon plague, we could not stay. Of all the plagues we faced, perhaps the darkness was the worst.
In that dark night, we could not see our hands before our faces. We could hear each other’s voices. Still, we felt apart. In the valley of the shadow, sheltered in tight spaces, What held us back and would not let us go?–the hardened heart. What makes a heart grow hard? Is it the fear of the unknown, The fear of change, of loss, of death, of feeling less than whole, The falling of the best of us, of facing life alone, The terror that came over us: not being in control?
What makes the dark pass over, starts to open up our eyes? It is the lightened mind that opens doors and leads us through. Stand up! No time to stand around and wait for bread to rise. Just take what you can carry, don’t forget what carries you.
“The journey of a thousand miles” (we heard this long ago) Starts with a single step of faith and then we wade right in. The waves will part. We’ll get through this, we will, because we know We grow through what we go through. So, then, come, let us begin! |

Leddy's Lesson this Sunday: - Here & Now
|
|
Lyrics from “Here and Now” by Faith Rivera and David Roth:
“Gonna turn this trickle into a flow, sayin’ hello to a new life! Gonna let the riches in my life grow. Now it’s my time, this is my time to be everything that I dream I can be in my life and I know that prosperity starts in my mind, here and now.
Now I dive right into a sea of joy, going deeper to my treasure and I drink in every precious drop, I am richer, so much richer, and I have everything that I truly deserve and there’s more and I know that prosperity starts in my mind, here and now.
I allow, I enjoy, I receive, I embrace, I commit, I invite, I believe, I open up my arms to this big wide world, sayin’ c’mon, bring it all on.
Gonna ease on down this yellow brick road full of wonder, so much wonder. I can be everything that I choose to be in my life and I know that prosperity starts in my mind, here and now. I allow, I enjoy, I receive, I invite, I believe, here & now.” |

Welcome, Our Two Candidates to the Board! |
|
|
I retired 2 years ago from a long satisfying career as a Project Manager/Facility Planner. Presently I am a dog walker. I just love my clients. They are fun and keep me in motion! I have 2 dogs of my own Millie and Hank. I enjoy being outdoors walking, hiking, biking and swimming. I'm really glad that I have made so many friends. I enjoy each and every one of them. Previously, I served one other full term and fulfilled the last year of an additional term, and now am delighted to be eligible to serve another term for my home Church! |
|
|
Hello, I’m honored and excited to join the Board for another term. Unity has meant so much to my life and I look forward to joining the Board.
I’m retired from the City of Clearwater (32 years). After I retired from the City, I worked at Morton Plant Hospital in the Volunteer Office for 2 years and at the Information Desk for 1 year. I continue to volunteer for the hospital at an adult cancer survivor camp each year. I also volunteer at Church in the media loft and the Church Office. Since we can’t meet in person right now, I’m volunteering from home by promoting our online services and other events on social media sites. I love doing this and look forward to the day it’s safe to meet in person. |

Sue Riley as UCC Minister of Music
|
|
Almost thirty one years ago Sue answered an ad in the newspaper for an accompanist at Unity Church of Clearwater and she’s been a joyful, grateful member ever since. Sue has been the Music Director at UCC for the past 20 years, working closely with Reverend Leddy to align the music with the message, something they are both passionate about. As one of the founding members of emPower Music & Arts, Sue is dedicated to changing the world one song at a time and helps to host the annual Posi Awards, now in its sixteenth year. Sue was the chairperson of the Music Ministry Team for Unity Worldwide Ministries for eleven years, helping to create a body of work for our churches. Sue loves to mentor and help to awaken the music within each person, and she serves on the board for Summersongs INC, a songwriting camp for adults in upstate New York. Sue is a touring singer songwriter and speaker and just released her eighth CD “There Are Moments.” |

Each week, Deb will have a new topic and you will have the opportunity to learn something new about each other and to share your thoughts. You can choose to participate or just listen in, whatever is comfortable for you. It will be a fun time for all as we enjoy our Unity community and navigate a new normal of virtual social distancing and spiritual closeness.

Folks are still asking: "What's the best way to send an offering to the Church?"
We're checking mail every day, so checks sent through the mail are fine, as are checks sent from your bank's online bill pay.
If you feel led you might consider setting up an automatic recurring donation. This can be done through your bank's bill pay or on the Church's donation form.
We've also been asked about the processing fees the church has to pay when the online form is used. The fees are a small percentage (3&-4%) of the total donation, however there is an option to cover fees that you may select if you feel so inclined. Every little bit helps and we're grateful if you decide to turn that option on.

UCC Contributes Monthly to Feeding Tampa Bay
|
|
|
UCC
continues to contribute to FeedingTampaBay.org. They have doubled
their weekly meals distributed from 1 million meals to 2 million,
establishing six weekly mega pantries serving nearly 10,000 families
each week and converting their mobile pantries to a drive-thru model for
increased distribution and safety. Message from "Rosie" on the
organization's site: "I'm a full time caregiver to my husband, . . .
. The food provided by Feeding Tampa Bay has helped us enormously. The
meals are well balanced . . . and taste great! We really appreciate
the help during this time." |

“Once the mind takes up a definite program and stirs up interest in things worthwhile here and now, the body will begin to wake up and to draw the abundant life of Spirit down into the various nerve centers, bones, muscles, and organs. New energy will flow through the organism and the soul will eagerly use it in setting about the work of releasing energy into the flesh to accomplish the necessary work of healing . . . . Through the right use of God-given power, a person may make his [or her] life the very thing he [or she] most wants” (Myrtle Fillmore, How to Let God Help You, Chapter 20). |
|
OUR WEEKLY AFFIRMATION:
“HERE AND NOW, THE ABUNDANT LIFE OF SPIRIT IS DOING ITS MIGHTY HEALING AND ENRICHING WORK IN THE MIDST OF ME.”
THANK YOU, GOD!
