“Many of the Old Testament prophets were prosperous or had access to riches. One of the most outstanding, Isaiah, belonged to the aristocratic class in Jerusalem and may have been a member of the royal family. His voice was heard and heeded in high places, and his position doubtless helped to lend weight to his words.”
[Arthur Baseman, a contemporary retired rabbi in Reform Judaism explained very concisely that when someone’s words came true, s/he would be known as a “prophet.” It is unremarkable to be a prophet of “doom and gloom,” whose “I told you so” statements confirm negative results. We all want to become the kind of “prophet” those good words, blessings, encouraging promises, come true due to understanding faith.]
