This Sunday @ UCC:
Lesson Title: Crossroads
Lyrics to “Divine Order” by Leddy Hammock/Sue Riley (“12 Women of the Chalice” CD).

“Let there be less of me. Let there be more of Thee – less of the human, more of the Divine, less that belongs to me, more that is Thine, more of God’s nature, less that is mine.

Not personality: Individuality. More of the Christ Self, shining through me. Teach me humility; let me your servant be. Give me serenity, selfless and free.

Let there be less of me, let there be more of Thee – less of the human, more of the divine.”
Guest Musician: Scott Ainslie

An Extraordinary Musician, Teacher, & Historian!

Scott Ainslie’s mother found him at the family piano picking out melodies from the records she listened to during the day when he was three years old.

He’s been a musician all his life.

A Phi Beta Kappa and honors graduate of Washington & Lee University, Ainslie came of age during the Civil Rights era, and cultivated a powerful affinity for cross-cultural exchange. He has studied with elder musicians on both sides of the color line – in the Old-Time Southern Appalachian fiddle and banjo traditions, as well as Black Gospel and Blues. He plays this music with affection, authority, and power.

Armed with a variety of instruments – vintage guitars, a fretless gourd banjo, a one-string, homemade diddley bow (aka cigar box guitar) and carefully chosen historical personal anecdotes of his encounters with senior musicians across the South – Ainslie brings the history, roots music, and sounds of America alive.

Daniel returns to UCC for a sermon in song to inspire us with his tremendous songs and positive message.

Orange County, California-based Singer/Songwriter, Producer and Humanitarian DANIEL NAHMOD (pronounced Nay-mod‚) has performed his profound, heart-opening original music for over one million people in 45 U.S. states and Canada since beginning his music career in 1999… selling 100,000 CDs to date and receiving literally thousands of standing ovations along the way. His songs are recorded and performed all over the world on a weekly basis. Recent media appearances of Daniel's music include NBC, FOX, CNN, CBS, PBS, E!, MTV, History, IFC, Bravo, and movie theaters across the United States.

Concert: Sloan Wainwright & Glen Roethel
Fri, Apr 5
7:00 PM
Peace Chapel

Sloan Wainwright

Defying standard categorization, singer/songwriter Sloan Wainwright, consistently demonstrates her easy command of a variety of American musical styles — pop, folk, jazz and blues — held together by the melodious tone of her rich contralto, with the end result being a unique and soulful hybrid.

Glen Roethel

Somewhere between Folk and Rock, classic and modern, pop and abstract there walks a very fine award-winning singer-songwriter named Glen Roethel. His powerful baritone-tenor voice recalls the more playful melodies of his favorite, Cat Stevens. When he plays it can be hard to tell where his arm ends and the guitar begins, so blink and you might miss something good. But don’t worry, he knows why you are really there – to have a great time.

MY CUP OF GOOD OVERFLOWS

“A man in the oil business learned of this prosperity prayer: “Thou anointest my head with oil, my cup overflows.’ He began to use it literally for his oil business, and found it one of the finest prosperity affirmations he had ever used. After he affirmed prosperity in the past tense, his oil business began responding to this decree with happy results.

When you truly desire an overflow of prosperity in your affairs, affirm: ‘Thou hast anointed my head with oil. My cup runneth over.’ Be sure to emphasize the word hast so that your mind will accept the thought of finished results now. This will open the way for their manifestation.”
