This Sunday @ UCC:
Caring 4 Caregivers - Leddy Hammock
Being the change we wish to see in the world means taking care of others and also taking care of ourselves.

Even the smallest act of kindness blesses both the giver and the receiver.

We care for others selflessly, serving the Christ within each and all.

We are guided and strengthened to be the change we wish to see in the world by doing all we can with what we have, in the time we have in the place we are. This is why we are here!
UCC member, Linda Burhans will join Leddy for part of the lesson this Sunday.

Linda is a national speaker on Caregiver Advocacy and the author Good Night and God Bless, a heartfelt story about the joy and challenges about caring for a parent.

As an expert in Caregiver Advocacy, Linda has facilitated over 1000 support groups and workshops for caregivers. She shares lessons learned and coping tools with thousands of caregivers who attend her events or read her work. Her weekly blogs provide expert guidance on resources and best practices for caregivers all over the United States.

Linda's latest book, Connecting Caregivers – Answers to the Questions You Didn’t Know You Needed To Ask, is available at Amazon.com

National Touring Artists Joe Jencks, Greg Greenway and Pat Wictor have made their mark as veteran touring singer-songwriters, but Brother Sun is no songwriter's round. The trio's harmonies, as much as their lyrics, tell what they are about: warm as a campfire, stirring as a gospel church, rousing as a call to arms. Fusing folk, Americana, blues, pop, jazz, rock, and a cappella singing, Brother Sun is an explosion of musical diversity and harmony, in the finest of male singing traditions.

Let's Evolve Together!
2017 Evolution Weekend

This year marks the 12th annual Evolution Weekend. All participating congregations will address the relationship between religion and science this February, especially Feb. 10-12. Unity Church of Clearwater's Senior Minister signed The Clergy Letter early in the history of this project, and has participated every year for over a decade, usually by planning a Sunday lesson topic in February on the general theme of evolution. Our lesson topic on Sunday, February 11, will be "Evolution!"

The Clergy Letter Project is an endeavor designed to demonstrate that religion and science can be compatible and to elevate the quality of the debate of this issue. The Clergy Letter Project has been officially endorsed by the Presbyterian Church (USA), The United Methodist Church worldwide, the Presbytery of the Cascades, the Southeast Florida Diocese of the Episcopal Church, and the Southwestern Washington Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.

Some 14,000 clergy from most denominations have tremendous respect for evolutionary theory and have embraced it as a core component of human knowledge, fully harmonious with religious faith. At this time, nearly 14,000 clergy representing a long list of faith communities, including many Unitarian Universalist churches, take part in this project,, inspired by the belief that the more evolved our science becomes, the more the sacredness of our universe is revealed!

January Heart of the House - Ed Marinacci
As a member of a Sunday New Thought class conducted at Peace Chapel, Ed Marinacci, participating in a Meditation Walk around the grounds, noted the natural beauty of Unity’s Peace Garden. That was his introduction to UCC—from the outside. Later, when he came inside for a holiday candlelight service, what an epiphany!

Today, Ed, who will be welcomed next month as a new member of Unity’s Board of Directors, tends the Peace Garden that he once admired. In the nearly three years since he first came to UCC, he has eagerly assimilated into volunteer activities, serving as a Meetup organizer and attending a variety of classes, seldom missing the Rev. Judy Tafelski’s Wednesday evening prayer meditation service.

BE FREE!

“Setting others free means setting yourself free. When you feel bound to other people, their attitudes, their behavior, their way of life, it is because you are (perhaps unconsciously) binding them to you. Then you begin to feel bond, chafing against the very bondage you have caused! Always you yourself hold the key to your freedom from bondage. You turn the key to that freedom when you release the personality, problem, or condition what you think is clutching you. Remember you are the master, never the slave, of circumstances.

You become the victor instead of victim when you dare to speak the word of release to the person or thing you think is binding you. You are your own bondage made manifest. You can become your own release made manifest, too.”

(Catherine Ponder in The Prospering Power of Love [Unity School of Christianity, 1966]
