This Sunday @ UCC: Being Kind - Leddy Hammock
|
|
Inspired by words of Nimo Patel in “Being Kind” --
I just sit and pray in silence and God shows me the signs. I open my eyes and realize we are fine, one small act at a time.
Small acts we do together, even though maybe alone, change the world for the better, so we can call it home.
And this is life: as we know, when our hearts are aligned, the magic that unfolds, one small act at a time.
When I’m kind to others, they pay it forward. This is how we build trust. Thank You, God, for letting me realize, when I serve humanity, I’m really serving You in disguise. |
| | Special Music Guest: Nimo
|
| | Nimo Patel, a soulful hip hop musician, humanitarian and ambassador of love and peace has dedicated his life to service. He believes in the oneness of our planet and aims to live a life that shares and serves this message.
Through his various tours - including one where he took 16-slum children on a tour across the world in 2012, with a musical he directed called “Oneness”- he has traversed the globe learning, growing and serving. Though he has reached various material milestones in his life such as an Ivy League education, a high paying job on Wall street as well as fame and fortune as a MTV Rap star, his journey over the past 8 years, serving in the underprivileged communities near the Gandhi Ashram in India has given him the most insight, joy and clarity.
Most recently nimo has reconnected to his roots of music and is offering this gift of love, peace and oneness through his songs: an offering he calls "Empty Hands Music". Over the past four years, nimo has been touring across the planet from Syrian Refugee Camps to Elementary Schools, from Churches and Spiritual Centers to Yoga Studios and Homes and much more, wherever he is invited to share his message of love and selfless service.
Check out this video which captures the spirit of what Nimo’s Empty Hands Music is all about. In the end Nimo hopes to “just be a small instrument of good for others while he is alive and then leave with a smile”. |

| | | | October Heart of the House - Keir Walton
|
| As a child, he sang while listening to the radio or his mom’s Elvis records, and, at 12, his mother let him try out for Commercial Kids and Company in St. Petersburg. He sang “Doe A Deer” from Sound of Music. They let him sing it seven or eight times and even provided additional voice lessons. Keir Walton never got nervous, even in later performances at Disney World, and vocal lessons continued to adulthood.
Today, UCC’s Sunday morning audience enjoys the mature musical range of Keir’s powerfully projecting tenor voice as a member of the Unity band. In 2000, Keir’s aunt Sherry Dawkins introduced him to UCC. After hearing Leddy speak, he never went to another church, and, listening to the choir and Bill Barrett playing keyboard, he knew he wanted to sing here. After the service, in a successful solo audition, he sang “Stand By Me.” Some years later, he and his family brought his daughter Kassidy to Unity when she was less than a year old.

| | | KEEP THE FAITH, LOSE THE GUILT.
“Stop feeling guilty about wanting to be prosperous. Instead, begin to study the Bible as a great prosperity textbook. You will be amazed and delighted by the prosperity techniques it will unfold to you.
For instance, the first chapter of Genesis emphasizes the power there is in speaking definite words that will produce definite results. ‘Let there be’ is God’s prosperity decree. It is interesting to note that all ancient scriptures stress this prosperity secret, the power of spoken words for creating desired good.”
(Catherine Ponder in The Prospering Power of Love [Unity School of Christianity, 1966]
Your Weekly Prosperity Affirmation: I NOW DECREE PROSPERITY IN EVER ASPECT OF MY LIFE, AND SO IT IS. THANK YOU, GOD!
