WINGed Words
Hi, Everyone!

Welcome to the second week of October, where Florida forgot that the Fall was upon us and Summer returned with a vengeance! But I don’t want to talk about the weather this week; I want to talk about prosperity! It is a topic I really enjoy reading about and writing about and was inspired to talk about this week because of Sunday’s Daily Word reading. I like the reading because it keeps the concept of prosperity very simple. The affirmation is: “I am prosperous as I enjoy my daily blessings.” That focuses my attention on the fact that it is today’s bread today! If I keep my attention on the blessings of today, right now, in the present moment, I have nothing to fear! It also keeps the principle of prosperity right-sized. I don’t need to think, for instance, “When I win the lottery, I will be prosperous!” No, prosperity is much more immediate and right in front of us. The text states, “prosperity is an awareness of well-being, my ability to enjoy simple things.”

So, I decided to go a little further and take out a favorite book by Charles Fillmore, Prosperity, specifically, Lesson 7, God has Provided Prosperity for Every Home. In this chapter, Fillmore extols the value of a simple life. However, he makes a strong distinction between a simple life and an impoverished life. He says that we can expect prosperity when we keep the prosperity law. “Therefore, be thankful for every blessing that you gain.” Spend time each day focusing on your blessings and they will multiply before your eyes. Thank God for the green lights, great parking spaces, availability of a product or the great sale price that just appears! Staying in a state of looking for our blessings will keep us focused on the positive and the blessings will be drawn to us. Fillmore says, “Praise and thanksgiving impart the quickening spiritual power that produces growth and increase in all things.” Bless your bank account, bless any income that comes to you, bless your grocery cart, your car, your family, your pets, your friends, your health!

Further in the chapter, Fillmore says there is a difference between the simple life and poverty. “It is as different from the austere as it is from wanton luxury.” It is the natural, free and independent way of living that is not enslaved to trends and whatever is “in,” but it is an expression of one’s own individual taste and preference, independent of societal expectations. “The simple life is a state of consciousness. It is peace, contentment and satisfaction in the joy of living and loving.” We can attain this by thinking about God and worshipping Him in spirit and in truth!

This is a wonderful chapter filled with many more ideas to begin your prosperity story right where you are, so, of course, I recommend that you read the whole chapter.

As always, I miss all of you and invite anyone who can to join us on Tuesdays at 12:00 pm for our new WINGS Book Study on Zoom. We are studying The Sermon on the Mount by Emmet Fox. Feel free to join on any Tuesday that you are able. It never matters if you missed the week before or will miss the next. Each week is a study in itself!

Peace, Love, and Prosperity
Cynthia

Today’s photos come from the reconstruction of a Native American Village near the Jamestown Settlement in Virginia. This is an example of a very simple life -- probably more than we would be willing to have today, LOL! Yet, we must admit to experiencing a real feeling of peace and contentment while visiting there. It was a rather chilly day and the warmth of the fire the smell of cooking and the quiet abundance of the garden was quite filling for the soul! Their lifestyle may appear primitive, but the point is they had everything they needed and so do you. They lived simply but abundantly!
Your Weekly Affirmation:

"I NOW LOSE THE COCOON OF THE PAST AND, IN PERFECT TIMING, I EMERGE AND SPREAD MY WINGS FOR A NEW BEGINNING IN LIFE."

THANK YOU, GOD!
