WINGed Words
Our WINGS group met in the UCC Cafe on Tuesdays for many years. Now that we're sheltering in place, the group really misses sharing their inspiring weekly studies.

Since our WINGS group leader, UCC Certified Truth Teacher, Cynthia Mackey, began to send out weekly emails to the group, we asked if we might share her messages with our entire email list so that more people could enjoy them.

You're very welcome to send questions or positive comments to Cynthia at:

Hi Everyone,

I must admit when I was thinking about writing my weekly update today, I was feeling frustrated and tired of the whole Covid mess. There is so much uncertainty and after a while it gets tiring, I know. However, I know that God is very certain and His love for us, His children, is unwavering and constant. There is no uncertainty in the Principle that is God. Nor is there any uncertainty in the principles we have learned in Unity about God. One of the unwavering principles I have learned in Unity about God is the prosperity principles I have learned from the writings of Charles Fillmore and Eric Butterworth.

I was reminded of that by reading today’s Daily Word lesson. The title is “Prosperity” and the affirmation is “My prosperous attitude blesses my life.” This reminds me that prosperity is not a “thing” -- it is an attitude. The first sentence of the second paragraph of the lesson is “As I begin each day, I expect good, look for good, and find good in my life.” That made me think of Eric Butterworth who says, “believing is seeing,” not the other way around as so often is said. First, I must always start with my faith, my beliefs, and my attitude; then all things follow after that.

In Eric Butterworth’s book, Spiritual Economics, there is a chapter titled “Security in a Changing World.” It has some ideas in it that are quite pertinent to the times we are experiencing right now. He begins with some of our traditional ideas about security (food, clothing, shelter, heat, light and medical care; I would add air conditioning for us Floridians in August, LOL!). There is no doubt that these outer things are very important to our wellbeing, but they are outer things. Jesus says in the Sermon on the Mount that “your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But first seek the kingdom and His righteousness (right thinking) and all these things will be yours as well.” So, I understand from this chapter that it is very good to take outer steps to ensure our safety, like conserving our funds, getting insurance, having a retirement plan, securing the doors to our homes and cars, and, in these times, wearing a mask and social distancing to protect ourselves and others. However, it is important to examine our motives for this. Are we reacting out of fear or are we acting proactively as a plan today for a future in God’s hands? Butterworth further states that true security can only be experienced by “identifyng yourself as a channel for the flow of infinite mind!” There is much, much more in this chapter, so I highly recommend reading it in its entirety.

I hope all of you are healthy and well and feeling like you are in the flow today! I miss you all and as always love to hear from you!

Peace, Love and Prosperity

Cynthia

Today’s picture comes from my overseas trip last summer. It is a beautiful stream at Leeds Castle in Kent, England. The castle was begun in the 1100’s and is famous for its black and white swans. It made me think of being in the flow!
