WINGS group met in the UCC Cafe on Tuesdays for many years. Now that
we're sheltering in place, the group really misses sharing their
inspiring weekly studies.
Since our WINGS group leader, UCC Certified
Truth Teacher, Cynthia Mackey, began to send out weekly emails to the
group, we asked if we might share her messages with our entire email list so that more people could enjoy
them.
You're very welcome to send questions or positive comments to
Cynthia at: info@unityofclearwater.org. |
| | | Hi Everyone,
As always, I hope this weekly message finds you all healthy and well. This morning I looked back to my first week’s e-mail message and it was certainly a lot shorter than they have become. I will try to make this one brief – but no promises!
Last Thursday was my son’s birthday and I always try to make a note of the Daily Word message that appears on my birthday or the birthdays of my family. So, Thursday’s message was on prosperity and the story of the prophet Elisha and the widow and the jars of oil. Briefly, it is a story of abundance – as she continued to obtain more vessels and continued pouring the oil, it continued to flow. It is a great allegory for God’s love for us – as we continue to pour our love forth into the world, it is constantly replenished. This is true of abundance as it appears all around us. This is the Law in action: the more we give, the more we receive!
As I have mentioned before, my husband and I have been walking every evening during the pandemic. As we walk around our neighborhood, I have been marveling at the fact that it is a tiny ecosystem of its own, right in the middle of the city. It is teaming with all kinds of wildlife and plants. Right outside my window where I write this email each week, I see snakes, lizards, rabbits, squirrels, and birds. As we walk past our pond, we have watched the baby ducks hatch and grow so big it is hard to differentiate them from their parents. Besides the ducks, there are turtles, frogs, and fish visible as well as a myriad of bugs to serve as their dinner. Sometimes, I just stop and breathe in the Life that is all around me.

| | I was reminded of the great prosperity teacher, Charles Fillmore. In his book, Prosperity,
he explains much about the principles that underly substance,
abundance, and all life. In Lesson Five, he states: “We cannot ask God
for more substance, for the Universe is full of it. We can and should
ask for more understanding to lay hold of it with our mind; that is, for
an increase in our capacity.” It is all about how I see things or more
importantly how I think about everything. When I am busy running around
“doing life” I miss seeing Life, I miss feeling, smelling, and hearing
Life. I am sorry that something as dreadful as a pandemic has perhaps
forced all of us to slow down and breathe in the Life, substance, and
abundance all around us, but we can embrace the opportunity. However,
throughout Lesson Five, Charles Fillmore continues to remind us that it
is an inside job. In the natural world we see that everything progresses
in an orderly fashion and is governed by divine law. Our inner world
is exactly the same. “We don’t have to pray and beg God for anything.”
All we need to do is, “affirm the presence and power of the great Giver
of all and accept the gifts.” Yes, accept the gifts!
My
prayer for all of us is that we continue to stay healthy and strong to
use this time to refine our inner life, but also to get out into the
fresh air regularly. To stop and see, hear, smell, and breathe in the
Life all around us. It is quite affirming!
Peace and Love Cynthia |
