Heart of the House - Nancy Peterson
|
|
Hello UCC Friends!
I’m thrilled that Leddy has asked me to be the new “Heart
of the House”. I’ll be writing stories about members of our Church community
for the newsletter. But I see it as much more than that. This is an opportunity
to build upon an already strong sense of community now that we have found our
way back to Nursery Road. Through sharing stories, profiles, celebrations and even
sadnesses, we can get to know each other again. Or for some of us, meet for the
first time. I look forward to sharing your special stories with our community!
About Nancy
Raised in Maine, Nancy found her way to greater Boston as
a teenager, first to pursue figure skating, then to attend Babson College. A
career in audit took her to France, Canada and all over the US. But she found greater
purpose in non-profit health care finance, developing new costing models and
systems. She went on to earn a graduate degree in finance, teaching at the undergraduate
level, and launching a technology start-up with a partner.
In her spare time, Nancy flew sailplanes, advancing into
higher performance aircraft. She flew the mountain wave out of Minden, NV in
1996 reaching an altitude of 25,600 feet over Lake Tahoe. In 1997 life changed
when she induced a low altitude spin on landing in her SGS-135. She credits
surviving the crash with being over a bend in the river. Once healed from
injuries, Nancy found herself back at the skating rink to offset the long hours
involved in launching a start up business. She skated eight seasons with a competitive
synchronized skating team out of Lexington, MA. With her teammates, she won
three national titles and skated in her last competition in Montreal in
December 2014.
Skating kept Nancy healthy for her most important mission.
She diagnosed her mother with Alzheimer’s Disease in 2009, began frequent
travel to St. Pete Beach to watch over her parents, and assumed all decision
making in 2012. Nancy compassionately guided her father through hospice and
transition in 2014 and relocated to care for her mother in 2015. She
experienced “the long goodbye” over five years with her mother. This time was
pivotal in seeing her own capacities and an unfolding path to service. Nancy
was enrolled in Loyola Chicago in January 2023 intending to pursue chaplaincy.
But when she took her first Unity Metaphysics class, a spark ignited. She
postponed Loyola classes, completed 19 Unity SEE classes in ten months, and
entered the Unity ministerial program. Nancy loves the foundational Unity
teachings and greets each day with wonder, gratitude and awe.
Nancy brings a love of writing, listening and storytelling to Heart of
the House.

This Sunday: Leddy Hammock - What You Can Do |
|
Lyrics to “Do What I Can Do” by Sue Riley, Richard Mekdeci, and Gary Lynn Floyd:
“Look around, what do I see? Good or bad, it’s up to me. My world reflects what I believe. Here’s what I believe. I know there’s good in everyone. I know the best is yet to come.
Look out world, ‘cause I’m not done, I’ve only just begun.... I’ll choose compassion over fear, release my love into the atmosphere. Like a single wave in an endless sea, any change begins with me.
And, when I feel I’m all alone, I’ll remember, one drop of water smooths a stone. Gonna, love like crazy, shine like gold, be courageous, break the mold. Can’t do it all, but this much is true. I can do what I can do.” |
|
Last Sunday's Shining Words:
"But as it is written: ‘What eye has not seen, and ear has not heard, and what has not entered the human heart, what God has prepared for those who love him’" (I Corinthians 2:9).
I reflect on the good I expect, and as I conceive it, I receive it – or something even better! |

What is Emotional Freedom Tapping (EFT)
Your body is more powerful than you may imagine, filled with life, energy, and a compelling ability for self-healing.
Like acupuncture and acupressure, Tapping is a set of techniques that utilize the body’s energy meridian points. You can stimulate these meridian points by tapping on them with your fingertips, literally tapping into your body’s own energy and healing power.
Gather with a great group of positive and supportive folks with healing in mind!

About Unity's Winged Globe
|
|
|
|
|
We're checking mail every day, so checks sent through the mail are fine, as are checks sent from your bank's online bill pay.
Your gifts to Unity Church of Clearwater are tax deductible as allowed
by law. Our life-affirming work is supported by the loving and generous
offerings of friends like you. Please give as your grateful spirit
leads you. You can also support Unity Church of Clearwater by leaving a
legacy of prayer and hope in your will or estate plan. Right now,
right where you are, you are blessing this ministry through your loving
thoughts and you, also, are blessed.
If you feel led you might consider setting up an automatic recurring donation. This can be done through your bank's bill pay or on the Church's donation form.
We've also been asked about the processing fees the church has to pay when the online form is used. The fees are a small percentage (3-4%) of the total donation, however there is an option to cover fees that you may select if you feel so inclined. Every little bit helps and we're grateful if you decide to turn that option on.

“There is something that you can do better than anyone else can do it . . . some talent and capability that, used to the glory of God and the honor of [hu]man[ity], will bring you a rich reward.” “Our work is our means of expressing what God is unfolding through us.” “Take life easier and let divine ideas work for you,” Myrtle Fillmore advises in How to Let God Help You. |
|
OUR WEEKLY AFFIRMATION:
“THERE IS ALWAYS SOMETHING POSITIVE THAT I CAN DO. I AM OPEN AND RECEPTIVE, RESPONSIVE AND OBEDIENT TO THE INSTRUCTION AND THE GUIDANCE OF THE CHRIST MIND IN EVERYTHING.”
BLESSING FOR THE UPCOMING ELECTION:
“I HEREBY ELECT GOD, THE INFINITE GOOD, TO GUIDE AND INSTRUCT US, OUR NATION, AND ALL HUMANITY TO DO WONDERFUL THINGS!”
THANK YOU, GOD! |
