| Hope for the Neighborhood
|
| Dear Unity Family,
Our Church has sent tithes and blessings to Unity churches in the path of hurricanes Irma and Maria and our prayers are with those who experienced the tragedy in Las Vegas. Even in the wake of hurricanes and horrific actions, there is still hope for the neighborhood . . . . “There are people in the world that are so sick or so angry that they sometimes hurt other people and they’re usually the ones who end up in the news. But when we get sad and angry, you and I, we know what to do with our feelings, so we don’t have to hurt other people.”
“You know, my mother used to say, a long time ago, whenever there would be any . . . catastrophe that was in the movies or on the air, she would say, ‘Always look for the helpers. There will always be helpers.’ . . . . Because if you look for the helpers, you’ll know that there’s hope.” -- Mr. (Reverend - Fred) Rogers

| | | | Info about the DeGeorge Puerto Rico Donations
|
| Thank
you to all of our Unity Helpers who contributed truckloads of necessary
things (like personal hygiene and medical supplies, baby care items,
nonperishable food, new clothing, bath linens, flashlights, batteries,
paper product and other helpful items) for the people of Puerto Rico who
came through Hurricane Maria. The folks at our drop off point --
DeGeorge Ceilings at 2436 State Road 580 – say they have gathered all
the supplies that their volunteer pilots can carry at this point, and
they are overwhelmed and grateful for the generosity of our
congregation.
Bob Miano, owner of DeGeorge Room Improvements called us on Tuesday and asked that we please let the UCC congregation know how grateful he is to you and that you "knocked it out of the park"! |

Calling
all helpers to UCC this “Service” Saturday – 9 am or so; lunch is
served about noon. Come help, us work in and around our Church Home.
Remember, lots of folks can use comfort and community right now. Help
us to get ready to welcome them to worship with us on Sunday morning.
Bless you!
A special task that could be undertaken:
- The "Unity Express" could use a little TLC in the form of washing and checking the batteries
We start at 9:00 AM and later will enjoy a great lunch together at noon.
In addition to our usual, fellowship, cleaning, organizing, gardening, etc:
- Cleaning windows
- Refreshing bookstore displays
- Tidying the shelves in the kitchen & pantry
- Taking out recyclables
- Cleaning the refrigerators
- Cleaning up the "Unity Express" golf cart
- Putting away supplies
- Checking fluorescent lights
- And lots more
You are most welcome to join us and we look forward to pouring lots of love in to our House Built on Love! You are the "Heart of the House!"
Service
Saturdays are good times to build friendship and community by working
and laughing together, taking care of our Church home and gratefully
breaking bread together in the Café. |

This Sunday @ UCC: Know U Anywhere
|
|
from I’d Know You Anywhere by Nancy Tillman
If one day we’re walking and talking, just us, and you looked different,
“I might be surprised, but just for a while. I’d know it was you by your magical smile.”
Even if you had been away for a long time and didn’t look at all like yourself, “I’d say, ‘My, my . . . that is quite a disguise!’ But I’d know it was you by the gleam in your eyes.”
“There are things about you quite unlike any other . . . Things always known by your father or mother. So, if you decide to be different one day, no worries . . . I’d know you anyway.”
“Yes, without question I’d know it was you.” “I know you by heart.” Because, child of God, “I’d know you anywhere.” |
