Grace for
Thanksgiving – Dinner Is Served! by Leddy Hammock
All meals
are best begun by saying “grace,”
for graciousness will set a peaceful
pace. A
grateful grace -- the appetite for life, best said before we grasp the fork and
knife -- is shorter
than most sermons, with more charm, for food, like life, is best enjoyed while
warm.
Just bless your fare and bless whoever’s there, whether in memory or in the chair. May we be
truly grateful, as it’s said, from blessed little, multitudes are fed. Share
memories of good Thanksgivings past And feast on love; from unforgiveness,
fast. Stir
sweetness in, let bitterness be gone. Good flavor’s brought out when the heat is
on! Enjoy
this life, whether through thick or thin, Remembering that real love is baked in. But when
the plates are cleared, let all be still. Just take a moment to give thanks and
chill. And then,
my friends, before the evening’s spent, Let everyone receive enlighten-mint. |
