| | Extra Important Express Saturday Tomorrow!
|
| Sat, Oct 21 9:00 AM - ? UCC Campus
Hi all. We could use some extra help tomorrow!
The new flooring in the café and bookstore area is being installed as we speak. It's beautiful, but we have a lot of dusting to do and much furniture, etc to put in place so we'll be ready for church on Sunday.
Here's a sneak peek of the floor:
|
| |
If you aren't familiar with Express
Saturday, it's our bi-weekly opportunity to come together and make
the church shine. We give the building a good cleaning from top to
bottom and some folks like to do a little gardening during that time.
We also make time to socialize, because maintaining our Church means not
only "housekeeping," for also friendly "home-making."
It's a great way to make friends and
feel the wonderful satisfaction that comes from working together in the
House Built on Love!
We also have opportunities for those that prefer to work outside!
Whether you can be with us or not, have a safe, peaceful, and prosperous weekend! |

This Sunday @ UCC: Being Kind - Leddy Hammock
|
|
Inspired by words of Nimo Patel in “Being Kind” --
I just sit and pray in silence and God shows me the signs. I open my eyes and realize we are fine, one small act at a time.
Small acts we do together, even though maybe alone, change the world for the better, so we can call it home.
And this is life: as we know, when our hearts are aligned, the magic that unfolds, one small act at a time.
When
I’m kind to others, they pay it forward. This is how we build trust.
Thank You, God, for letting me realize, when I serve humanity, I’m
really serving You in disguise. |
| | Special Music Guest: Nimo
|
| | Nimo Patel,
a soulful hip hop musician, humanitarian and ambassador of love and
peace has dedicated his life to service. He believes in the oneness of
our planet and aims to live a life that shares and serves this message.
Through his various tours - including one where he took 16-slum children
on a tour across the world in 2012, with a musical he directed called
“Oneness”- he has traversed the globe learning, growing and serving.
Though he has reached various material milestones in his life such as an
Ivy League education, a high paying job on Wall street as well as fame
and fortune as a MTV Rap star, his journey over the past 8 years,
serving in the underprivileged communities near the Gandhi Ashram in
India has given him the most insight, joy and clarity.
Most
recently nimo has reconnected to his roots of music and is offering this
gift of love, peace and oneness through his songs: an offering he calls
"Empty Hands Music".
Over the past four years, nimo has been touring across the planet from
Syrian Refugee Camps to Elementary Schools, from Churches and Spiritual
Centers to Yoga Studios and Homes and much more, wherever he is invited
to share his message of love and selfless service.
Check out this video
which captures the spirit of what Nimo’s Empty Hands Music is all
about. In the end Nimo hopes to “just be a small instrument of good for
others while he is alive and then leave with a smile”. |

“The Guardian of the Threshold” With Stephen Amsden
The Guardian of the Threshold is often depicted as a menacing figure described in ancients texts and myths that dwells at critical points during the soul’s path of Initiation on the journey back home to the Divine. The term "Guardian of the Threshold", or sometimes referred to as "dweller on the threshold" conjures a spectral image which manifests its presence when "the student of the spirit ascends upon the path into the higher worlds of knowledge." The Guardian as a spectral figure embodies the sum of experiential spiritual knowledge and fear of the unknown that the disciple of truth has accumulated during this current and past life experiences. This the Initiate carries within to the doorway of the spiritual world after prolonged cultivation of the spirit within the soul, and when proven worthy, is then allowed to pass the Threshold.
Stephen Amsden will present a PowerPoint on this topic, followed by group discussion with hand-outs. This work is based upon excerpts for the following sources: Max Heindel - various excerpts; Edward Bulwer-Lytton - "Zanoni"; Frater Archer https://theomagica.com/ "The Veil Of Paroketh"; Tony Crisp - http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/guardian-of-the-threshold/ ; Samael Aun Weor, "The Revolution of Beelzebub"; Rudolf Steiner - "An Outline Of Esoteric Science; Knowledge Of The Higher Worlds And Its attainment; Macrocosm and Microcosm"; Valentine Tomberg - Meditations on the Tarot
Suggested Donation $5-$10
Refreshments will be served
