Dear Friend,
Back when I was 11, I started my first business.
It was a lawn mowing business. And that little business funded my comic book and video game obsession when I was a kid.
Anyway, I had quite a few houses in the neighborhood "on retainer" and business was good.
At least until I made a big mistake...
You see, one July evening I received a call from a client, and he was NOT happy.
Turns out, I'd set the mower blades too low and cut his grass too short.
And since it was July, the hottest month of the year, the sun had scorched his grass and his lawn dried up and died.
That's right, I KILLED my client's lawn!
It was my first major business mistake, but by no means my last.
And even though this mistake was an awful experience (the guy yelled and cursed at me on the phone, and I ended up paying to plant new grass on his lawn), it taught me a lot.
The truth is, screwing up is one of the best ways to learn, but only if you decide to make your mistakes a learning experience.
