Dear praying friends,
Our home church in KC recently asked for a brief summary of what the Lord has done for
us and through us in 2016. Here is what we said:
We began the translation of 50 Bible stories, as well as the Gospels of
Matthew and Mark in two new Roma dialects. The first is called Gurbet and is
spoken in Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia and Montenegro by over 200,000 people. The
second is called Chergash and is spoken in Serbia by 35,000 people. We praise
God for this opportunity and answer to prayer.
We were also able to resume translation of these same 50 Bible stories, as
well as the whole New Testament, in another Roma dialect spoken by about 150,000 in
Croatia, Serbia and Bosnia. It is called Bayash and is the first language which
our founder and director began work on about 10 years ago. It is thrilling to
be able to see these draft translations revived and moved on to the stage of
being edited and checked.
We’re also very grateful for a supportive community here in Budapest for
our family. Pamala coordinates the Sunday School class for first through sixth
graders at our international church as well as teaching classes in our home
school co-op.
This is just a tiny glimpse of what God has done in 2016. As my new favorite song says:
I could sooner count the stars
Than number all Your ways
Though I only know in part
That part exceeds all praise
As sunlight fills the skies
Your goodness fills my life
For all Your precious gifts
Receive my gratefulness
