Subject: In San Antonio

Thank you for your faithful prayers. I have been in San Antonio, TX, for the last eight days, attending annual meetings of the Evangelical Theological Society and the Society of Biblical Literature. It has been a very profitable time of learning as I’ve listened to numerous lectures on various topics related to theology, as well as to biblical Greek, biblical culture and backgrounds, and linguistics. I trust I am coming away even better equipped for our continued Bible translation work.

Regarding family life, we enjoyed celebrating Timothy’s 33rd birthday (pictured below), visiting Todd’s mom, watching Elizabeth finish a half-marathon, and a mother-daughter sleepover for Pamala and Ariela with American Heritage girls.

Pamala is team-teaching Ariela’s Sunday school class, going through the book of Exodus, and I am teaching a men’s Wednesday Bible study through 1 John. I recently taught an adult Equip Hour class on “The Knowledge of God” as part of our church’s study through R. C. Sproul’s Everyone’s a Theologian. You can listen to the audio of my class at https://www.crosswaybible.org/mediaPlayer/#/episodeaudio/65

Thank you again for your faithful support and prayers.

Time-sensitive prayer request: Yesterday morning while checking the Gospel of John in one of the Roma languages, my computer unexpectedly died. This laptop is the tool I use for all my Bible translation work. I have a replacement on order but here is the time-sensitive part: It is supposed to arrive tomorrow afternoon or evening, but I leave tomorrow evening to fly to Dallas to attend the Bible Translation Conference through Tuesday of next week. This conference is an important time to learn about Bible translation and to add to or tweak the software we use to make it the most efficient. If my new laptop does not arrive before I leave tomorrow, I won't be able to set it up and use it at the conference and maximize the expertise of the software support experts who will be at this conference. So please pray that, if the Lord wills, the laptop will arrive tomorrow (Thursday 10/12) in time for me to take it to Dallas for the conference. Thank you!
