I am excited to be back in my home town of Whittier on September 14th for a 2 hour Spirit Circle! As a lot of you know, I love historical things, such as cars and buildings, and I really enjoy having Spirit Circles at the East Whittier Women's Improvement Club. Here are some fun facts about this house.
The East Whittier Women's Improvement Club, is believed to be the oldest women's club in east Los Angeles. In 1908, the parents of former President Richard Nixon were married in house. In 1910, when a nearby school was destroyed by fire and again after the earthquake of 1933, the house was loaned out as a temporary school. Even now, it is often used by a variety of community groups as well as for weddings and receptions.
