Hi everyone! I have another book coming out and I need your help!
The book is a study of the Ten Commandments. Now, I understand that the Ten Commandments are often viewed as a judgemental list of “do’s and don’ts”, barked out from a mountain down to us unworthy mortals - “Do this - or else.” Nothing could be further from the truth. The commandments are rooted in the deepest possible love for ALL of us. They are more of a loving guide for life, to ensure we reach our highest self.
To feed this valuable perspective, I am co-authoring the book with father Gianni Francisco-Passarella. Gianni grew up in a picturesque village in northern Italy, studied to be an accountant but somehow ended up as a priest—much to the surprise of his professors, who are still trying to figure out how he managed to pass all his exams...
But Gianni was unstoppable - he went on to gather a Bachelors, a Master of Divinity in Theology, an MA in biblical studies, and a Doctorate in Spirituality. He speaks fluent French, English, Spanish, and of course, Italian, and he reads Latin and Hebrew. He would even have regular lunches with the Pope...
Most significantly Gianni has travelled extensively throughout the Holy Land, deeply investigating the places where Jesus spent his years preparing for his ministry. I’m honoured to create this book with him.
We both share the view that the famous commandments urgently need an interpretation for today’s world. And what is a “commandment” anyway? After all, “Just Do It” is a commandment - one we know as a positive encouragement of personal power. So how much more can we benefit from embracing ten pieces of gold from our true loving source.
Now - here’s where I need your assistance!
Each chapter of the book focuses on a commandment. Gianni explains the commandment, then I provide one of my readings to match the explanation. Right now I am in need of three examples of sittings:
For Chapter One, “‘I Am The Lord Your God” actually focuses on God’s intention for us to have true freedom. God led the Israelites out of slavery. The biggest slave-master in our lives is fear; God wants you to be truly free through gratitude, meditation and prayer.
- Do you have an example of how my sitting helped you gain freedom from being “slave” to some kind of fear, or a “slave” to another person?
For Chapter Five, to “Honor your Father and Mother” means being absolutely who you are. Be yourself. We often call God “Father”; Jesus referred to God as “My Father,” but God is a spiritual being who can be both Father and Mother. So, if your earthly parents reject you, you can always turn to God.
- Do you have an example of how my sitting helped you be your own true self?
For Chapter Nine, “You Shall Not Bear false Witness” leads us to being a Witness for Love. At Jesus’ trial at the Praetorium, he was accused of Perverting the nation, Forbidding the payment of tribute, and Sedition. Jesus simply admitted to belonging to the truth, and the truth is love. So if you witness love for your neighbour, you are always free.
