FYI--this is old information, and very much disputed. If you are interested, go to lisabarger.com (or just google graviola) and there is a review of the info. Graviola was never clinically tested on human beings, only in vitro (laboratory experiment). If you know of later studies that were conducted on human beings, I am interested. I certainly wish it were true, but it is not fair to spread this info around, when it is not verified and there are many desperate people around. I know you meant well. Graviola Does Kill Cancer Cells
In 1998 researchers from Purdue University’s School of Pharmacy and Pharmacal Sciences released findings from a study that isolated cancer-fighting compounds from the leaves of the graviola tree. Two of the compounds showed what scientists called “significant” anti-cancer activities against 6 human cancer cell lines, including cell lines that include prostate and pancreatic cancers.
But these were not studies done on humans with cancer. In fact, these weren’t “clinical studies” at all. They were laboratory experiments done in vitro. As promising as these experiments were, they were just that—experiments.
No Human Studies. None At All.
To date, there have been no scientific studies of graviola done on humans at all. Reports on the internet of “amazing results” are lies spread to sell you an herb that you can purchase at any large health food store for a fraction of what those web sites will charge you.
Legitimate Experts Say “No” To Graviola
In a 2007 Q&A segment on his web site Dr. Andrew Weil was asked about the “1000 times” claims about graviola. His response was quick and to the point, “None of this is true.”
His associate, Dr. Tieraona Low Dog—who is the director of education at the University of Arizona’s Program in Integrative Medicine—doesn’t recommend graviola, either. In fact, Dr. Low Dog goes so far as to say she wouldn’t even take it herself.
Also skeptical of graviola’s miraculous claims is Dr. Ralph Moss, who was a founding advisor to what is now the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine. In a 2003 article attributed to Dr. Moss, the author expresses skepticism toward most of the ridiculous claims and reminds readers once again that no actual human studies have ever been published on this “miracle cure-all”.

Thank you Samuel,
You are the third person to get back to me about the lack of clinical trials over graviola. That is an important consideration, although we don't necessarily have to throw out the baby with the bathwater. I doubt if there have been clinical studies with many traditional medicines, including Essiac tea and chapparal, but that doesn't mean they don't work. Anecdotal experiences count too.
But nonetheless, I think I will forward this new information to my list.

Here is some more information to add to your data on cancer treatment
Hi Blair,
We have to be careful with this type of information. It is not the fruit that has the potent cancer fighting compounds. It is the stems and the only time to get the best of the active ingredients is during the spring. There are four trees in the same family that have anti-cancer fighting compounds: Paw Paw, graviola, guanabana, and soursop. Of the four Paw Paw is the most active and is well known in alternative cancer circles and surely to anyone who has a consultation with me. You can see how Paw Paw stacks against other alternative treatments on my Comparison table. Of note is Paw Paw's ability against multiple drug resistant cells and their role in recurrence.
Probably of more importance to you is the real effect of chemo on tumors. Chemo breaks up tumors and sends cancer cells floating around the body where they will eventually slowly grow into secondary tumors. It is a great business model.
And of course Prevention .
