Strays
(c) 1996 Wynn Free
Sometimes I adopt people,
Usually adults.
I call them often,
And make sure things are going OK.
I think my presence in their life
Might really make a difference
To them,
So I stay present
Regardless of what they're going through.
When I sense
I have made a difference,
I feel different
Inside myself.
I've increased my feelings
Of value and worthiness,
And the care I extended
Comes back to me manifolds.
And when my adoptees
Meet each other,
They tend to bond easily.
And soon I have a little family
Created out of nowhere
