Subject: More on Bob Dylan and the devil
Friend
I got a number of interesting comments on this video which I posted on the Wynn Channel yesterday and I think it's all worthy of me giving some comments back.
First of all, let me say that Bob Dylan is one of my own personal super heroes. His songs extricated me from the middle class consensus reality which I was brought up in. I had a couple of up close and personal connections with the Dylan mythology. I used to drive across the country at least once a year from Philadelphia to Berkeley when I attended school. On one of my trips, I stopped off in Hibbing, Mn. Hibbing was Dylan's birthplace and I read in an interview that his parents owned an appliance store in Hibbing, so we walked into the appliance store and announced ourselves (me and the group of students who were going across the country with me). The manager made a phone call, and we heard him say that "We have another one" and then gave us the directions to Bob's parents where we sat in their living room and drank coffee. They took us on a tour to the basement where Bob had written some of his first songs.
Some years later, I had given up my interest in being a physics professor and was travelling around the country with my friend Gillian. I was writing songs and Gillian would sing my songs and and we were the welcomed wherever we went as representatives of San Francisco hippies. We drove around in a blue VW bus which Gillian named "Bussey". Our travels took us to Woodstock, New York, where Dylan was living and we drive up to the general area of his location and were sitting in our VW, when Gillian nudged me and pointed to this guy walking up the road with his horse. "Isn't that Bob!!"
I looked out the window and said "Are you BoB?" and he said yes. I said "we were looking for you." And he said, "what did you want?" And I said, "We wanted to sing you a song." And he said, "Go ahead".
We got out of the car. I got my guitar and we played him a song called The Carnival.. He said, "That was nice" and continued walking his horse down the road.
I should mention that Gillian and I are still good friends. Those of you who are appreciating the work I'm doing now, I give Gillian a lot of credit for opening me up to metaphysics. She's the person who first introduced me to Edgar Cayce in the '70's, when I was a very linear Berkeley physics major
well i haven't address the topic of the subject line.... I'll defer on that for later.
