It’s Booda here. I’m sitting at Sage, which is a vegan cafe in Venice Beach that Obi and I love.
We just finished recording a podcast, and I got pretty passionate about how people––especially people in their 20s––always seem to think they need to have everything figured out.
I get it, because let’s face it… that’s what we all do in our 20s.
I used to think that I had to have everything figured out, including who I should marry, what career I should have and all the secrets to the universe.
(Ok, maybe not all the secrets to the universe, but I was pretty cocky back then…)
Turns out that your 20s are about one very important thing…
Experimentation.
Let’s all say that again… Ex-per-i-men-ta-tion.
You can give yourself a break if the men you’re dating aren’t up to your standards. You can give yourself a break if you haven’t found the perfect job. You can give yourself a break if you haven’t figured out “who you are” yet.
It’s totally normal.
In fact, (as we talk about in the podcast) I imagine I’ll look back on my “wise old” 34-year old self and think “boy… you really didn’t know anything”.
That’s life.
We should give ourselves permission to experiment at any age, because that’s how we grow. That’s how we learn and that’s what helps us improve.
I know I’m working on giving myself permission to not “have it all figured out”, so I hope you’ll join me, no matter how old you are.
