My girlfriend and I took a little break...
Not in the bad “breakup” kinda way…but space. She decided to stay in Guatemala while I traveled through Central America for 3 weeks on my own.
Now we’re back together in Panama and…
I’ve discovered something that will help you understand how getting a boyfriend after being single for so long can be the best thing you’ve ever done.
We’re a team.
Sure…the sex is great, unlimited back rubs are cool, constant affection is nice, and you can’t be mad at having someone to pass you kale chips while you’re watching Lost in Translation for the 7th time…
But when you get a boyfriend, you get a teammate. Someone to dig in with you during the rough stretches of life…someone to call you out on your bullshite when you’ve gone astray. Someone to sit in the fire with you and squeeze your hand and let you know that it’s all good.
You get a rock.
And I know you’re a strong independent woman, babe. (I see you.)
But it’s nice to let go of the wheel sometimes.
And if you trust him...it can be even better to just let him drive.
Just some food for thought today.
Until next time, Obi
P.S. We talk a lot about “letting go of the wheel” when dating and how that can lead to some a pretty amazing relationship in Track 3 of the “Boyfriend Recipe”.
