Hello, Writers!
It's strange getting back to "normal" during the holidays. I'm happy to report that my grades are turned in and I have a two week break from classes.
I've finished reading How Lucky, a novel I feel mixed about. I like the fact that the narrator is in a wheelchair, but yet it feels somehow like cultural appropriation. What I will say is that I read this book because Stephen King offered a blurb and a "read this book" recommendation. That's sold a lot of copies of this book.
I asked last week about interest in starting/restarting a poetry workshop in the new year. There is some interest, so how about the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 7 pm Eastern? We'll follow the Feedback and Critique model while also exploring language and form. (Reply to this email with your interest and/or availability.)
For those who celebrate, have a safe and healthy holiday weekend.
The Writer Workshop has two online events scheduled this week:
Monday, December 20, at 7 pm Eastern: Feedback and Critique. Read a bit of your work and receive feedback from the group. $5. Register today.
Thursday, December 23, at 1 pm Eastern: Fiction through Prompts. $10. Register today.
And, the Elements of Fiction webinars (Character, World Building, Plot, Pacing, and more) are available for on-demand viewing. Click to learn more....
For the online events, you don't need any special software. Just register and then click the link at the meeting time to join us.
Enjoy the journey!
