Hello, Writers!

My reading this week, I've been exploring memoirs again. I finished Rob Lowe's book Stories I Only Tell My Friends and I've started Coal Miner's Daughter by Loretta Lynn. I find it interesting the choices famous people make, what parts of their lives they share publicly and what parts they leave out. This goes toward the idea of reliable narrators, also something I'm interested in at the moment.

Just a heads up, I'll be taking a vacation during the first three weeks of October, so there won't be any events between October 1-23. (There also won't be newsletters during that time.)

The Writer Workshop has three online events scheduled this week:

Monday, September 27, at 7 pm Eastern: Feedback and Critique. Read a bit of your work and receive feedback from the group. $5. Register today.

Tuesday, September 28, at 1 pm Eastern: Fiction Writing through Prompts at the Henderson Libraries in Nevada (via Zoom). Free, but advanced registration is required. https://hendersonlibraries.com/event/5412140

Thursday, September 30, at 1 pm Eastern (10 am Pacific): Fiction through Prompts. In this online, video conference webinar, you'll learn about a literary device and we'll write to a high-end prompt for 25 minutes and then, the group shares the results and offers feedback. The cost is $10. Register for the Prompt Writing webinar.

And, the Elements of Fiction webinars (Character, World Building, Plot, Pacing, and more) are available for on-demand viewing. Click to learn more....

For the online events, you don't need any special software. Just register and then click the link at the meeting time to join us.

Enjoy the journey!
