Hello, Writers!

My reading list for this week saw the conclusion of Sex, Race, and Robots by Dr. Ayanna Howard. It's interesting thinking about AI as it relates to Sci-Fi, but also as it relates to our daily lives. I had never considered the amount of bias that's inherent in computer programming and in AI learning on its own, but it's here and real and getting more focused. Certainly a good source for modern and future plots.

I'm also rereading Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte for a book club I belong to with the Henderson Writers' Group. I'll be leading a discussion for that group a month later (June) on Wide Sargasso Sea by Jean Rhys, which is a direct response to Jane Eyre. It should be an interesting discussion series.

As I mentioned last week, we're planning another Julia Cameron workshop. On the next round, we'll be exploring Cameron's latest, The Listening Path, as a workshop for seven weeks, beginning Tuesday, May 4th. Register Today!

The Writer Workshop has three online events scheduled this week:

Monday, April 25, at 7 pm Eastern: Feedback and Critique. Read a bit of your work and receive feedback from the group. $5. Register today.

Tuesday, April 26, at 1 pm Eastern: Fiction through Prompts for the Henderson Libraries. Free and open to the public, but you must register in advance for this Zoom meeting.

Thursday, April 22, at 1 pm Eastern (10 am Pacific): Fiction through Prompts. In this online, video conference webinar, you'll learn about a literary device and we'll write to a high-end prompt for 25 minutes and then, the group shares the results and offers feedback. The cost is $10. Register for the Prompt Writing webinar.

The Elements of Fiction webinars (Character, World Building, Plot, Pacing, and more) are available for on-demand viewing. Click to learn more....

For the online events, you don't need any special software. Just register and then click the link at the meeting time to join us.

Enjoy the journey!
