Hello, Writers!
As King says in On Writing, if you don't have time to read, you don't have time to write. To that end, I finished several books this week. Lincoln on the Verge: 13 Days to Washington, which I enjoyed. The 13-day train journey to DC creates an interesting frame to look at Lincoln's life, and the state of the country. Framing devices can be fun to use for structure whether writing fiction or nonfiction and it's done fairly well in this book.
I also completed Blind Spot: Hidden Biases of Good People. Diversity training is all the rage and this was an interesting text recommended by the staff at SNHU. It was an interesting look at studies related to our human blind spots. The structure wasn't great in this book, but the tone was conversational and approachable.
This week, Im reading a novel by Anne Tayler, more on that when I finish...
