Hello Writers!
How are your November word counts? As of this writing, I'm at 25,074 out of 50k. I remind my students (as Anne Lamott does) all the time that Shitty First Drafts are acceptable--we need words to revise. After all, the craft of writing is in the revising. (Read Anne Lamott's essay "Shitty First Drafts.")
The Writer Workshop has two online events scheduled this week (plus my Henderson Library Zoom series):
Tonight, Monday, November 16, at 7:30 pm Eastern (4 pm Pacific): Feedback and Critique. If you're interested in reading 5-6 pages of your work and receiving feedback from other writers, join us. The cost is $5. Register for the Critique & Feedback webinar.
Tuesday, November 17, at 1 pm (10 am Pacific): Zoom series of writer workshops for the Henderson Library District. This is a 12-session series modeled on my Fiction through Prompts workshop (writing to a high-end prompt, learning about a literary device, Q&A). The program began October 6 and meets Tuesdays at 1p E/10a P. It's free to attend, but you have to register in advance. Click to register.
Thursday, November 19, at 1 pm Eastern (10 am Pacific): Fiction through Prompts. In this online, video conference webinar, you'll learn about a literary device and we'll write to a high-end prompt for 25 minutes and then, the group shares the results and offers feedback. The cost is $10. Register for the Prompt Writing webinar.
The Elements of Fiction webinars (Character, World Building, Plot, Pacing, and more) are available for on-demand viewing. Click to learn more....
For the online events, you don't need any special software. Just register and then click the link at the meeting time to join us.
Enjoy the journey!
