Hello Writers!
I was invited to participate on a diversity panel for the Act Like an Author/Think Like a Business writer's conference in Las Vegas, NV, over the weekend -- remotely, of course. The idea of writing with diversity in mind is a good conversation to have as authors. How we approach creating more diverse casts for our novels is a topic to spend time thinking about.
I've also been invited to host a Zoom series of writer workshops for the Henderson Library District. This is a 12-session series modeled on my Fiction through Prompts workshop (writing to a high-end prompt, learning about a literary device, Q&A). The program begins October 6, at 1p E/10a P. It's free to attend, but you have to register in advance and seating is limited. Click to register.
The Writer Workshop has two online events scheduled this week:
Tonight, Monday, September 21, at 7:30 pm Eastern (4 pm Pacific): Feedback and Critique. If you're interested in reading 5-6 pages of your work and receiving feedback from other writers, join us. The cost is $5. Register for the Critique & Feedback webinar.
Thursday, September 24, at 1 pm Eastern (10 am Pacific): Fiction through Prompts. In this online, video conference webinar, you'll learn about a literary device and we'll write to a high-end prompt for 25 minutes and then, the group shares the results and offers feedback. The cost is $10. Register for the Prompt Writing webinar.
The Elements of Fiction webinars (Character, World Building, Plot, Pacing, and more) are available for on-demand viewing. Click to learn more....
For the online events, you don't need any special software. Just register and then click the link at the meeting time to join us.
Enjoy the journey!
