Hello, Writers!

My reading this week included On Beauty by Zadie Smith. I like Smith's writing and style, but it bothered me that she wrote a story set in America with Americans, but her language was decidedly British. She used word choices, mostly for small things, that are British in nature and not American. It got me to thinking about how we research, not only about cities and places, but also about appropriate words. Something to think about.

I've got some travel planned throughout February, so we'll be skipping a few of our regularly scheduled events throughout the month. Check the newsletter for the upcoming weekly events.

The Writer Workshop has two online events scheduled this week:

Monday, January 24, at 7 pm Eastern: Feedback and Critique. Read a bit of your work and receive feedback from the group. $5. Register today.

Thursday, January 27, at 1 pm Eastern: Fiction through Prompts. $10. Register today.

Also coming up:

Thursday, February 24, 7pm Eastern: Poetry Group. $5.  Register today.

Also, the Elements of Fiction webinars (Character, World Building, Plot, Pacing, and more) are available for on-demand viewing. Click to learn more....

For the online events, you don't need any special software. Just register and then click the link at the meeting time to join us.

Enjoy the journey!
