It’s wrong for me to teach my kids about success and winning.
And that's the problem; too many parents trying to teach their kids how to win, rather than lose.
Giving a kid success suffocates their drive and their passion. It shields them from learning their strengths and weaknesses.
Instead, it’s vital that I teach them how to never quit.
After all, life isn’t about winning and losing. It’s about comebacks.
And with that, I started teaching my kids the saponification of olive oil - the age-old process of reacting pure olive oil with sodium hydroxide and purified water.
Nobody makes olive oil soap anymore.
It’s too f@#cking hard.
Saponification of olive oil is among the slowest reactions in nature. Like fine Italian wine, olives love their purity. Growing in the Mediterranean desert, they pride themselves on independence. It shows in chemistry. Saponification of olive oil takes one year…and there's no guarantee it will work.
Science has proven that olives are among the best food and medicine. But, it was the Babylonian chemists who discovered its’ highly sought after soap properties.
A true olive oil bar is know as Castile soap. Once used in the shower, it transforms into a thick, gelatinous lather that kills all pathogens. It’s also terrific for face and hair.
Once out of the shower, Castile soap leaves an invisible barrier between your skin and the rest of the world. That barrier preserves the skins texture and elasticity!
