Making soap has been a mainstay for home school for over 6 years. The most important lesson it imparts is:

At my house, "just look at soap" has become synonymous with teaching corruption and complacency. And you could say the same for schools, colleges, cars, and medicine.
Today's soap isn't even real soap.
It's a counterfeit. sure, it wipes dirt away, but it's also a breeding ground for skin cancer thanks to the dozens of chemical detergents used to make it look like and behave like soap...and nobody has dared to question it!
In his famous work, 1984, George Orwell wrote that, "If all others accepted the lie which that party imposed - if all records told the same tale - then the lie past into history and became the truth."
Like all products that come from taking short cuts, soap you find in the store is nothing but a profitable scam (a lie) - just like the cars you buy, the college educations you pay for and the medicine you choke down!
From that, our mantra has become "TRY HARDER!"
