My son Blair was training for his State Wrestling Tournament. It was 12 weeks away. But, 10 minutes into live training, he was wincing on the mat.
His coaches tried to get him up, but he wasn't budging. In fact, he didn't walk for a week.
He tore his ACL.
...I ended up carrying him to the car that night.
Limping on crutches for a week, he was out of the State Tournament.
Or was he?
Injuries are part of the sport. And every coach and parent had advice for Blair's recovery.
"Go get surgery," was the most common drab coming out of their mouth...as if.
