Subject: My Reflection after 13 recitals this year

Hello!

Mark here from The Happy Pianist!

We are near the end of the year, and I just did a quick calculation...

We have organised a total of 13 live recitals this year for our Happy Pianist and Happy Violinist students and teachers!

If you or your child/students have performed in any of our 13 recitals this year, well done!

Here's my reflection after 13 recitals:

1. The first step is the hardest
The first step starts from making a decision to perform. It's not easy, especially for someone who never perform on stage before. This idea to "perform live" is scary. But once you overcome this first step, it's easy for future performances.

2. Collect 'confidence points' by performing more
Everyone has stage fright, even if you're performing for 1st time or 100th time. But the 100th-time performer has little stage fright, because he has earned lots of 'confidence points'. He has performed so many times, until he can manage his fright on stage, and perform confidently. So continue to perform more, regardless it's a small or big stage, to earn more confidence points!

3. Every performance is a learning experience
From choosing the performing piece... to practising it... to enter the hall with frozen fingers... with your heart beating fast as you walk up the stage... to playing out the piece and continuing even if you miss a note...and receiving applause from the audience in the end. This is a valuable experience for all performers.

4. Performing is addictive and motivational
After every recital, I went around to ask each performer for their feedback, and many of them ask "When is the next recital?"

Some of their teachers also feedback to me that their students become so motivated in class after the recital. (So if you feel your child is not motivated, get them to perform!)

Last but not the least, our Happy Music Recitals are successful, thanks to the support from the parents, teachers and the students. We hope to see you in our future recitals!

Meanwhile, we have some more seats left (at discounted rate) for the Muso Music Masterclass in Jan.
