Subject: "Is my ABRSM exam piece allowed for competition?"

Hello!

Mark here from The Happy Pianist!

As The Happy Music Festival 2023 was launched last month in April, we have received many questions from parents and teachers.

And here are the top questions we've received, and let us address them:

1. I understand the first round is a live audition round. But can I still send in video?

Yes. The first round for all contestants is Live audition round. Play live in person, in front of the judges. Face to face.

No more videos, no more video submission. No Zoom.

2. Can I watch my child live audition?

Yes you can! One parent, guardian, friend, any one person can be present in the audition room with the contestant. You can also record the performance for your own keepsake.

3. What happens after the live audition?

On the live audition day, you register yourself at the counter of the hall, and wait for your turn to perform. Once performance is done, you can leave.

The results will be announced on a later date.

4. Can I compete with my ABRSM or Trinity exam piece? I'm already preparing for my exams this year.

Yes! All exam pieces from any year under ABRSM, Trinity or LCM syllabus are allowed in the classical categories. Choose your best piece to compete!

5. Will the name of my teacher be featured on the certificate?

Yes!

Every contestant certificate will feature the name of his/her representative - which can be the teacher, parent, music school, or ownself.

Here's the certificate design for 2022 Festival.

If the contestant come in top 3 of a category, the representative name will also be featured on the result page. (Free publicity to recognise the teacher/school for their efforts!)

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask us anytime!

Or you can check out the festival page for more FAQ.

Early bird registration ends on 9th June. Less than a month.

By the way, I've also create a promotional video for the festival. You can watch it at the top of the event page :)
