Subject: "I join because I don’t like exams"

Hello!

Mark here from The Happy Pianist!

I have some interesting survey results to share with you.

By the way, the early bird registration for The Happy Music Festival 2021 ends this Friday, 13th August, 11.59pm.

Early this year, I did a survey asking participants the reasons they join the festival last year.

And here’s some of the top reasons shared by parents and students (and my comments)

1. “To have a goal to work towards”
Quite a number of parents join so that their children have a goal that year for their lessons.

2. “Gain experience for future”
Yes, that festival also help them gain experience for future performances (as most performances and exams are online now)

3. “Because I don’t like exams”
A parent commented that his son like the festival because it allows him to play songs he like - particularly gaming songs. He doesn’t like exam pieces. No exams is okay, but at least he’s still motivated in piano!

4. “Benchmark progress with others”
That festival allows parents to see performances of other kids, and know where their kids stand in terms of progress.

5. “Win prizes!“
Good! You get rewarded for your effort!

6. “Already preparing for exams”
Some students are already preparing for exams. So that festival is like a ‘rehearsal’ for the exam. Good idea too.

7. “Didn’t know piano can also play Japanese songs, Anime songs, and gaming song!”
Last year festival is an eye opener for quite a number of parents and students, especially if they have been learning just exam pieces all year round. There’s so much more repertoire outside of exam.

If you’ve participated in the survey, thanks for sharing!

Teachers have their own reasons too. Maybe I’ll share next time. :)

And all these reasons motivate me to organise the festival again this year.

So if you haven’t registered for the festival, the early bird registration is available until this Friday 13th August, 11.59pm

If you have registered, I’ll inform you about the next step on 14th August.

Looking forward! :)
